The Sons of God as seen in The Sons of Jacob
Genesis 49

First was "Reuben" whose name means "See a Son".
------- Jesus (one must see Jesus FIRST)

Second was "Simeon" whose name means "Hearing".
--------Faith cometh by hearing (The Gospel preached)

Third was "Levi" and it means "joined".
---------Acts 2:38 obedience Joins us to Jesus.

Fourth was "Judah" and it means "praise".
-------- To show forth His praise.

Fifth was "Dan" and it means "judging".
--------- Discerning good and evil (By the Spirit)

Sixth was "Napthali" and his name means "wrestling".
--------- The Pauline conflict of flesh and Spirit.

Seventh was named "Gad" . His name means "troop".
---------- Troop (a great number)- the Church

Eighth was "Asher" and his name means "happy"
--------- Blessed are ye IF...

Ninth was "Issachar". His name means "hire or reward".
--------- The reward and the Rewarder!

Tenth was "Zebulon" and his name means "dwelling".
-------- If ye Abide in me

Eleventh was "Joseph" and his name means "adding".
-------- Fruitful additions to our lives.

Twelfth was "Benjamin" which means "Son of my right hand".
---------- Those led by the Holy Ghost are the sons of God.


The order of birth of Jacob's sons can parallel the life of a Christian. (From a Ruben to a Benjamin --->> this is the goal).

Been waiting since Sunday morning service to post this....

Our pastor preached an AWESOME message this morning on the illusions the devil throws up to confuse us -- he used the sons of Jacob bringing him the bloody coat-of-many-colors as an example. They never said Joseph was dead, but based on the evidence he could see, Jacob leapt to the conclusion that he had to be dead.

Anyhow -- he explained why Joseph's brothers hated him so bad. It was because he was a dreamer. And he said, "Don't worry, if you have a dream to do something great for the Lord, there are always at least 11 'brothers' waiting around to bring you back to reality."
