Without looking it up!! ...who was Abraham's second wife?
MawMaw
09-04-2007, 09:54 PM
Hagar?
angelindesguise
09-04-2007, 10:01 PM
Abraham did not marry Hagar did he? she was Sarah's handmaiden, but after she delivered Ishmael, there was jealousy between Sarah and Hagar and she was sent away.
MawMaw
09-04-2007, 10:02 PM
Yeah I guess so....that's the only other lady I could think of in his life LOL
angelindesguise
09-04-2007, 10:12 PM
Sarah just couldn't wait on that promise, she had to take matters into her own hands. She persuaded Abraham to go in to her handmaiden and have a child with her. We don't need to help God out, we just need to keep the faith and wait on Him. When we take matters into our own hands, we always mess up.
MawMaw
09-04-2007, 10:24 PM
Amen, that's the truth Angel!

Hey Sis Angel, I think mebbe I was right about Hagar.........Genesis 16:3.....And Sarai Abram's wife took Hagar her maid the Egyptian, after Abram had dwelt ten years in the land of Canaan, and gave her to her husband Abram to be his WIFE.

Now if I can just learn to pronounce it! :yeah:
angelindesguise
09-04-2007, 10:51 PM
I don't know Maw Maw, I am confused in Genesis 25: 1, it says Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Ke-tu-rah
Prior to that in the last verse in chapter 24: 67 it says: And Isaac brought her into his mother Sarah's tent, and took rebekah, and she became his wife: and he loved her: and isaac was comforted after his mothers death.
Abigail4476
09-04-2007, 11:14 PM
Abraham's second wife was Keturah. (Gen. 25:1) He didn't marry Hagar. Abraham had (at least) 6 more sons...by Keturah.
Gen. 24:67 is...Isaac consummating his marriage to his new wife, Rebekah....

That was a guess, but I couldn't remember ever seeing where a cat was mentioned. As I have posted on several occasions, our Pastor encourages us to read our Bible through every year. I have done so several times, but each time I do, something new is revealed to me, and things I have never noticed before, sometimes seem to leap out at me. So just because I had not remembered seeing a cat mentioned, didn't mean it hadn't been. It was just a good guess Maw Maw.

It was almost a full year.
Gen 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Gen 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first [month], the first [day] of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.

HSdad

Waitin on HSdad to give us the answer now to how many days Noah was on the Ark. :)
Marking time by Noah’s life:
Start:
600th year
2nd month
17th day
…the same day the windows of heaven opened
And
… In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
Finish:
God’s command to exit
v. 13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
v. 14 And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
v.15 And God spake unto Noah, saying,
v.16 Go forth of the ark, thou, and thy wife, and thy sons, and thy sons' wives with thee.
To do the math, you would have to subscribe to the God calendar as being 12 months (lunar new moons) of 30 days for a total of 360 days per year (this why Adar I and Adar II come into play to reconcile the earth’s revolution around the sun being 365.249975 days)
So on the selfsame day of Yr 600, month 2, day 17 enter
And God commands on Yr 600, month 2, day 27 to exit,
You would have 360 + 10 days for a total that agrees with Dabody’s post of 370.
FYI,
Interesting internal time references:
The selfsame day that the heavens opened Noah and family entered the ark (not seven days prior)
Rain falling for 40 days and nights
Earth covered with water subsiding for 150 days
Ark rested on Arrat on the 7th month, and 17th day of the month
This matches the five months equals 5x30 = 150 days
Noah releases the Raven and the Dove
Dove finds no place to rest, and returns (no mention that the Raven returns)
Seven days later, Dove released again and returned with an olive branch
Seven day later Dove release again and DID NOT return
So,
On ark with rain or floating on water that prevailed over all the earth =150 days
In ark with water abating, another 220 days UNTIL God commanded an exit.

…the same day the windows of heaven opened
And
… In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;
How was Noah sure it would rain?. God had told him in Genesis 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights… So Noah and his family went into the ark seven days before the flood when he was 600 years old. God brought in the animals and the Lord shut him in. (verse 16)

I do not think any credential or insight is needed to intreprete the words that are recorded as "on the selfsame day" recorded in Gen 7:13 related to v. 12.
The words of our Lord recorded in Luke 17:27 say the same thing. For those brethren who teach Noah and family hung out for seven days on the ark (to support their timeline teaching for a calling away), they might say Luke 17:27 is not definitive enough (despite the Gen 7:13 second witness), but in Luke's record, Jesus goes on to compare another judgement that came on the SAME day as Lot left (Lk 17:29).
Folks who want a seven year period without God's church being present need to toss out Noah (and Lot) if they are looking for parrallel cites or type/shadow for their teaching.
Btw, I think if you re-read the witness in Gen 7, you may find that God instructed Noah seven days ahead of time to begin the process of loading the riders onto the ark.

Elgon and Jabin were Kings. You named all the Judges. There are 13. Supposed to be 12 to represent the twelve tribes of Israel.
I'm guessing the first prophet named was Noah?
