I didn't see a thread for just deserts so I'll start one with Sis Warmbee's request for my pear cobbler er crisp LOL :)
I never seemed to like pears that much until I tried this recipe. Plus we have 2 huge trees that are loaded down....I usually just gave the pears away.....but not this year! well not all of them anyway :).....also gonna stew some down to go with hot biscuits! yum.....I think it's true about the saying that your taste for things change ever so often.:goof:

1 16 oz can light cherry pie filling
1 package cake mix for 1 layer cake or sweet muffin mix
1 egg
3 Tbs evaporated milk
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped nuts -- optional
Put pie filling in lightly buttered 3 1/2-quart crock pot and cook on high for 30 minutes. Mix together the remaining ingredients and spoon onto the hot pie filling. Cover and cook for 2 to 3 hours on low. You may also use a lightly greased soufflé dish in a larger crock pot. 6 servings.
I wonder if I could make your pear crisp in a crockpot....

This is bakery quality! Make sure you make this one day ahead of time. It needs to be refrigerated over night or the taste wouldn't be as grand! Very awesome for a party!!!
Vanilla Bean Cheesecake with Walnut Crust
Makes one 10-inch cheesecake
1 1/2 cups walnut pieces
1 3/4 cups sugar
4 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 cups sour cream
1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
2 lbs. cream cheese, softened
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise, seeds s****ed
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1/4 teaspoon pure almond extract
1/2 heavy cream
Preheat oven to 350. Butter a 10-inch springform pan. In a food processor, pulse the walnuts with 1/4 cup of the sugar until finely ground. Add the butter; pulse until the mixture resembles moist sand. Press the crumbs into the bottom of the pan. Bake for 12 minutes, or until browned around the edges.
In a small bowl, mix the sour cream with 1/4 cup of the sugar and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla.
Reduce the oven temperature to 300. In a standing electric mixer fitted with a paddle or using a handheld electric mixer, beat the cream cheese at low speed with the remaining 1 1/4 cups of sugar and the vanilla seeds just until combined. Beat in the eggs, 1 at a time, s****ing down the bowl between additions. Add the remaining 2 teaspoons of vanilla and the almond extract. Slowly beat in the cream until smooth. Pour the cheesecake batter into the pan and bake for 65 to 70 minutes, until lightly golden and slightly jiggly in the center.
Immediately pour the sour cream topping over the cheesecake and smooth the surface. Return the cheesecake to the oven and bake for 5 mintues longer. Transfer to a rack and let cool to room temperature. Run a sharp, thin bladed knife around the cake and remove the ring. Refrigerate the cake for 3 hours, then cover loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight before serving.

This is no recipe so i'm :nt: but I thought it was cute.
The preacher came in to his house after attending a meeting over at the church with the deacons. His wife comes into the room wearing a very beautiful and expensive dress that they could hardly afford. The husband says ' why'd you buy that dress?' her reply was " the devil made me do it". So he said 'why didn't you tell the devil to get behind you?' She said, " I did............................................... ...............................................,
And He said it looked good back there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:twitch

Thank you Angel. I think all of our personal testimonies are awesome! I remember watching "The Ten Commandments" on t.v. growing up. You know before cable and when they only showed it around Easter? lol
I would get so teared up when Moses was standing before that burning bush. I would think, "I wish I could know God like that."
Had no idea you could. Never heard of the Holy Ghost.
When I first stepped foot in a Pentecostal church the pastor's wife was dancing at the altar during the worship. I knew that it was what I was looking for - that intimate communion with Him.
God saw my heart when I was just a child! He is faithful to answer our prayers even after we forget that we asked them!
Well, we have throughly hijacked a food thread!!!

I was looking through a Paula Dean magazine today and came across the following recipe for Fruit Cake. I know not many people like fruit cake, but I sure do, especially when it's a good recipe without that bitter candied citron/peel. I'm gonna get a subscription to her magazine......it had wonderful southern style recipe's that were not those fancy shmansy titled dishes that no one hardly has ingredients too anyway! LOL. :goof:
COCONUT WHITE FRUIT CAKE
7 egg whites
1 cup candied cherries, chopped
1 cup candied pineapple, chopped
1 pound golden raisins
4 cups chopped pecans
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
2 sticks butter room temp
2 cups sugar
1 6oz. pkg frozen coconut
1 tsp vanilla extract
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Line the bottom of a tube pan with wax paper and grease the paper. In a large bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form and set aside. In another large bowl, combine candied fruits, raisins, and nuts. Add flour and salt, and toss to mix; set aside. Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten egg whites, then coconut and vanilla. Add fruit to coconut mixture. Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 2 1/4 hours. Cool in pan for 10 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.

I make these quick easy Brownies when my grandbabies spend the night with me. :)
WONDERFUL CHOCOLATE BROWNIES
1 egg
3/4 cup water plus more as needed
1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
1 (18.25 oz.) box devil's food cake mix
nothing else! :)
Preheat the oven to 350. Grease a 13x9 inch pan.
Mix the egg, water and nuts in a large bowl. Add
the dry cake mix; stir well, but don't overbeat.
If the batter needs a little more water, add a
teaspoonful at a time. Don't add too much, because the
batter should be thick. Don't overmix.....just mix enough
so that there is no "powder" showing.
Pour into the pan, smoothing the top evenly. Bake for
20 to 25 minutes for chewy brownies; if you like them a little drier, bake a few minutes longer.....

MANDARIN ORANGE CAKE
1 box white cake mix
3/4 cup oil
3 eggs
1 small can mandarin oranges
Mix all ingredients until well blended. Pour into 3 greased 9 inch round pans. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Cool.
ICING
1 can crushed pineapples, drained well
1 16 oz. tub Cool Whip
1/2 pkg. French Vanilla instant pudding
Mix these ingredients, and just spread it over the layers as you stack them, and then over the top and sides of the cake. Keep refrigerated. Makes a beautiful 3 layer cake.
Almost every time I take this cake, I bring home an empty cake plate.
I hope my directions are clear.
Enjoy!!!!:nod

Hey y'all need an easy dessert!!
have worked with a pastry chef and we had this dessert at a banquet.
1 large cool whip (may use chocolate)
1 large hershey almond bar melted and cooled but still runny
1 graham cracker crust
melt chocolate bar in double boiler (pastry chefs don't use them - they use
large pyrex bowls or stainless over small
sauce pan that way water doesn't get in
the chocolate.)
fold cool whip in melted and cooled chocolate.
Pour into crust refrigerate.
This works well with 6-10 oz. of milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet chips
Yum

1 container sugarfree Cool Whip thawed.can use reg Cool whip too.
1 bag thawed strawberries that were once frozen.... do not drain.
Mix both together and spread in a 9 inch square glass cake pan , cover and freeze.
