We are enjoying green beans, green onions, white potatoes, some tomatoes, a few pickles, the lettuce is finished.
The summer squash is almost ready.

After the scare with the tomatoes and the salmonella problem which may or may not be linked to the tomatoes after all it will be good to get a good steady supply of our owm tomatoes.
We are still getting strawberries everyday.
We gave our neighbor a 5 gallon bucket of picked green beans this morning that he is going to can for himself and his daughter.

The past 2 years our peach and apple trees were hit by a late frost but this year they are just loaded with fruit but the plum tree died.
We need to can more peaches and applesauce this year.

Nothing like your own fresh garden fruits and veggies.
Its work but worth it.
Our grandparents HAD to do it to eat they couldnt just go to the grocery store or eat fast food.
And then I feel terrible for those who have no food and go to bed hungry even in this day and age we think of other countries with no food but even in the USA people have no food or inadequate nutrition, you can be full in your tummy but be suffering nutritionally and may even be malnourished.

Eat better for your health to serve the Lord who loves you.

I feel sorry for folks who can't grow a garden every year.

So far, we've been getting yellow squash, peas, watermelons, canteloupes, and finally TOMATOES!!!! :D

Have had some fresh strawberries too.......been making some yummy strawberry pies!!

We also have some huckleberry bushes that put on really good this year....huckleberry jam and cobblers are sooooo good too!!

Fresh is always better!! :)

maw maw what kind of watermelon did you grow?

we have several kinds they arent ready yet.

we have one that is shaped like a spaghetti squash that turns yellow when it is ripe so even I will know when it is ready to pick.
I forget the name but its like the old fashioned Golden Crown melon.

And My dad always picks fruit when its not ripe.

love my dad he just likes underipe fruit hes aftraid the deer and birds will get it and a pesky woodchuck.
