There is such a hormonal shift change that often headaches, fatigue, bloating and irritability occur.
It is very important that a good diet is followed and a good multiple vitamin with extra calcium as calcium is lost and calcium is necessary in the prevention of osteoporosis (bone density becomes brittle).

Also many of the headaches, bloating and irratibility can be avoided by decreasing caffiene and salt intake and using more fiber in your diet (fresh fruits and vegetables) and decreasing fried foods and white breads.

Eight glasses of fresh (pure, filtered or spring) water will make a difference in dryness that often accompanies menopause and taking vitamens e and cod liver oil on a daily bases helps hair, skin and mucosa to keep from being so dry.

Time set aside for an hour of just walking while praying and getting out of the house reduces some of the moodiness.

Pamper yourself with a good warm/hot soothing bath at the end of the day with candles or soft light and a tape or cd of sweet gentle gospel music or hymns or if you have the Bible on tape use that.(Plenty of Bubble bath if not allergic!).
Just don't use electrical items close to your bathtub or candles where they could ignite anything.
Don't feel guilty for taking time out for yourself. You deserve to have a little pampering! Besides you'll feel better, rest better and smell better!

Foreverblessed it would be wonderful to stay Foreveryoung!
But, alas, we all have to grow up some day.:( At least us women do! Men never seem to grow up!LOL Just ask my Dad!

I started early menopause before 35. I am usually a good natured person, generally happy. So I couldn't understand what was happening to me when I was crying all the time or so irritable I couldn't stand myself! I used to tease my friends when they had their hot flashes. Not anymore! It seems I am finished with them now.:) At least I hope so!:(

I found the best thing to do during these times was to get away by myself. Walking and talking to the Lord, was the best thing. Sitting in a (quiet) park or working in the garden. Sitting in my room, reading my Bible or lying on the bed reading or resting, were other ways to "escape". After a while the kids knew not to disturb me if my door was closed. (the husband didn't though! He would pop his head in every few minutes:( )

I wanted to share with some of you that I am premenopausal and I was encouraged to take Dong Quai capsules for premenstral syndrome.I started taking it and it caused me to have thyroid symptoms.I found out it suppresses your thyroid and also does nothing more than have coumadin like effects. So all I was doing was basically taking an herb that thinned my blood. Some folks swear by this but I am extremely sensitive.I also want to caution you to not overdue soy products as they have estrogen like effects. Some is good but not too much. And also Toufu and things curdled are overly processed.Skip those and just eat the soy nuts or drink the milk. Not all things labeled health food are actually healthy.lv sis.c

A good book "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause"

For hot flashes use a good progesterone cream.

Some ladies also take Black Cohosh

I'm also premenopausel (but isn't every female before menopause) and I work with Sister who is a little bit older than me.

She said that her flow has gotten very heavy and very eratic. (More fun!).
