I would like to know what you lovely ladies think about Morning Prayer. I have heard that it is so important to pray or to seek God early in the Morning. Have any of you ever heard that there is a certain time of day that is better to pray than another?I heard this on a preaching tape and it was very convicting. The speaker gave several scriptures to support his postion. Please tell me your opionions and what you have seen in the word ..... I am just really curious?

In my opinion, I think it is great to start your day with prayer--if you can stay awake and focused. Right now mornings are not good for real prayer time for me I am usually doing a running dialogue with God from the time I get up until the kids are out the door. My real alone and quiet time with God is before bed when the kids are tucked in I can concentrate on my bible and talking with God thanknig him for the day and the blessings that He has given us. For me this is a great time--I have had some great prayer meetings with no worry of distraction--kids phone someone at the door. When the kids were younger I always prayed during nap-time but I had to go to the other end of the house so the noise wouldn't wake them.

I am NOT a morning person! hahaha... but yeah, we had sister Addington in our church this past weekend and she was talking about morning prayer... It does sound like a wonderful way to start the day, but I'm afraid I'm being quite lazy about it :( I *try* to spend a few minutes reading a daily devotion in the morning or something to get my focus right for the day.

I love praying last thing before I go to bed... It makes my sleep so deep and refreshing...

Love Kate

I am a definate believer in morning prayer! As a new convert, long ago it was morning prayer at the church I was attending that really gave me a strong foundation and discipline in learning to pray and know Gods voice. We would meet dailyat 6AM for anyone who wanted to attend.
Truth be told I myself am NOT a morning person, but I have learned that there are blessings to arising early to pray. The senior Pastor in the church mentioned above is well known to pray a 4AM daily, as long as I have known him he has done this.

God may waken some in the wee hours of the morning to pray. Wickedness does its dirty work in the darkness and I have heard it said that between 2-4AM they are busy, so this would be a prime time to pray and dispatch Gods angelic forces to bring about Gods will in a certain situations.
I also believe things are clear and quiet in the morning, before the "hubbub" of the day starts, we are calm and refreshed from a good nights sleep and can "hear" what The Spirit has to say.

One of my very favorite scriptures is Psalm 55:17 Evening, and MORNING, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: AND HE SHALL HEAR MY VOICE.
Psalm 63:1 says O God, thou art my God; EARLY will I seek thee:

Proverbs 8:17 says I love them that love me; and those that SEEK ME EARLY SHALL FIND ME.

Im sure in the tape you listened to some of these were used and there are many more. My suggestion to you is if you feel God guiding you to morning prayer try it and look up in a strongs concordance refrences to "morning", "early" etc.. and use that as part of your devotion time when you read your word.

For the most part I usually pray very early through the week(my job forces me to get up around 5AM) but on weekends I sleep in a bit (7-8ish) Unless I happen to wake-up(or God wakes me up)Just do the best you can do an ask God to help you. Once you begin to see the blessings and answered prayers that will really motivate you!

I am in total agreement with you! That was a great post.Oh Lord in the Morning will I direct my prayers! I am not a morning person , I have to fight back my flesh to get up. I want to go to a deeper prayer time with the Lord. Some ladies in my church meet once a week at 5:30 A.M. and we pray together and then the men also meet once a week at 5:30 to pray. Our teens in the church meet at 5:30 just about everday before they go to school and pray together. Our Pastor says the church is always open for those who want to come and pray. I must say though, it is not that going to a church building makes the prayer somehow more meaningful, it is the sacrafice of getting up early and going.Prayer at home in the A.M. is also awesome! God bless!

Since our marriage my husband and I have made a habit of having family devotions every morning. We read a couple Psalms, a chapter in Proverbs, then a chapter in either the Old or New Testament (we switch each day). After our Bible reading and discussion we pray together. We now have an infant son and if he is awake then Jacob sits on my lap while daddy reads out loud and then mommy and daddy pray.

This has been a real blessing to our marriage! It also helps us both during the day........ I am definately an advocate of morning prayer.

GREAT POST!

I've felt for a long time that I should be getting up earlier and committing myself to a regular early morning prayer life. :o

I'm going to see if we can start a 5:30 AM open door prayer meeting in our church too.

Oops! I forgot to tell NETTIE how great her avatar is. :p

My husband and I pray together every morning. Most mornings, we make it up before the sun. In the fall it gets harder (even though the sun comes up later). I think it's because the weather is such good sleeping weather. We thrive on early morning prayer. After we pray, we have a cup of coffee alone together before we wake up the children for what we call "Family Worship". Our kids look forward to it. It's like having a 1/2 hour church meeting each day with our own family.

Cinthia always starts good threads. Thanks Cinthia.

I love morning prayer. I'm not a morning person at all but I felt God calling me to morning prayer a few years ago.

My husband, myself and a few people would meet at the church at 6:00 every morning. I loved it. My husband started feeling sick from a condition he's had earlier this year and we broke this habit but I've been wanting to start it again soon.

We now pray in the evening but sometimes I'm so tired I have to fight to keep focused.

Plus with praying in the morning, when we have evening prayer meetings at church or at someones home it's just added prayer time and I love it and I NEED IT!!! :)

God Bless

My mom was going to a church for awhile that was messed up. The pastor was teaching unbiblical things and has problems in his life. Well, he was teaching that the people in the church needed to get up early in the morning to pray before the demons come out. I thought they were out all the time???

I think it's great to pray in the morning, however, I think you should pray at whatever time you can get the "deepest" in prayer. For me this is afternoon, but I don't work.

The ALJC women's department called WE, Women Esprit, has started a new program for praying. They want all the women to pray for the first hour they are awake in the morning, afternoon or evening (whatever the case may be). They already have testamonies of churches growing and having revival since they started this in June. Our Pastor's wife just told us about it tonight (she has been busy moving to a new house). This could be something that other ladies could bind together and do in their own churches, whether they be ALJC, UPC, Apostolic, or Independent. Whatever you call yourself, it could be a good thing for everyone. Just a thought.
