Acts 7:58
And the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man’s feet, named Saul
I have a question about this scripture, it's probably not that important but why did they lay their clothes down at Saul's feet?
I'm don't know why they did this or what this means.

Acts 7:58
And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young man's feet, whose name was Saul.
I also wonder why the stoning had to be done out of the city?
Maybe they took off their loose garments so that they could better throw the big stones at Stephen?

I'm wondering why at the Saul's feet.....??
It makes me think he was in charge of it.
The Bible says he approved the situation.
Maybe they had a special place outside the city for stoning people, they had special sections of land for hanging people and for putting them on the cross.

To answer the question outside of the city, you have to go back to Old Testament law. When a person sinned that person was taken outside of the camp and stoned. They considered Stephen a reprobate and sinner because he was not teaching the law like they wanted to hear. So they took him outside of the city (camp) and stoned him.
To answer the second question why they cast their clothes at Sauls feet is because he was probably put in charge of the whole ordeal. Remember he sat at the feet of Gamaliel. He was of the strongest Sect. Saul was actually very religious and very strong for the law.

Yes, that's the answer I was also thinking about. Thanks

Maybe it was a simple as "Here, watch my coat..."
As a young man, perhaps he was the youngster of the crowd and got the job by default.

His NAME is Jesus!

As simple as that, and a "witness", to boot.
