Hello!
I love all the wonderful spiritual things that come with having uncut hair... what I don't like is the split ends
Can anyone tell me ways to prevent them and heal the hair that is already affected?
Thanks ladies!

I use alot fo conditioner on my hair. I dont have split ends but I do have very frizzy hair and when I brush it, it becomes more frizzy. I usre wish there was a way to control that. I remember seeing a bottle of frizz ease shampoo and conditioner yesterday at the store. Can anyone tells me if this product works ?

I have found some stuff at wal- mart that is an oily gel it is yellow and in an hour glass shaped bottle it is called curls up it claims that it helps permed and naturally curly hair less frizzy and enhance curls. I use it on my bone straight hair to make the ends look good especially when I wear it down. I use it on my daughter's curly hair almost every day and especially when I wash it. I slather it on after towel drying and comb thru my daughters hair and in the morning it is fabulous! This product is the best I have found it doesn't leave alot of build up. Also try to refrain from using heat on your hair and do not brush use a pick or wide toth comb.

ApostolicLady,
I have thick auburn hair and it is alot of body to it, and alot of frizz....yuck! I hate my frizz, it is really bad on humid days. I have used that frizz ease stuff and yes it does work, I think what works best is the frizz ease serum that they sell at wal-mart.I also have to use gel in my hair and That really helps alot. I also use the VO5 hot oil treatments and that helps with the frizz and the split end thing. God bless!

Apostolic lady...
I have not used the shampoo or conditioner but years ago i used the frizz ease serum and it really smooths your hair and takes away the frizzies. I have very long hair and i never use anything store bought anymore. I only buy from beauty supply stores or salons. You can also buy the products online. i have done that many times.

There is a really good product from Sunglintz products called Silk.It is so awesome that you can rub it into your face and hands.Talk about make your frizzy hair silky.
For split ends I just use olive oil and go get a large tooth afro rake black plastic comb from Sallys.Do not brush wet hair comb it with this rake. Also remember not to do it too hard and work from bottom up.Wet hair really stretches and it can break. Both I and my two daughters have really long hair.We love it.No more mornings with one side of my hair doing one thing and the other doing something else.lv sis.c

You cannot mend ends that have already split. You can only do your best to prevert more.

The thing that really makes split end is brushing with a hard bristle brush when your hair is wet and over blow drying.lv sis.c

Someone told me to buy fish oil capsules..I tried them for about 3 months...my dry skin was so much better, plus my hair was healing...I was in the hospital and was put on antibiotics, and anyone that has had to use antibiotics intraveiniously, knows what it does to your hair. Fish oil is very good for your heart, your arteries, and if you have poor circulation....but....Don't take them for over a couple months at a time....your body will store it...you don't really have to take them every day...Sure helped me..I am getting "back on them" soon...just talk to someone in the health food store.. thanks...you all have really great suggestions! Hi this is Jesuspwn's wife. Karen1956UPC is right. Salon products are almost a must for healthy long hair. It is expensive but you can get two for 20 or 25 deals alot. Also I just think of all the money I save by not cutting my hair so paying extra for good shampoo isn't so bad. I prefer matrix. I also know a great website for homemade hair products http://www.pioneerthinking.com/.

i read on a doctor website that if u have thinning hair that u need omega -3 and your hair should start growing back so it should help with other hair issues. ..the website said excessive twisting and pulling on the hair will make it break more and we pentecostals are known for that. Not me tho cuz i am not talented enough to fix my hair.

My sister-in-law told me to stop brushing my hair when it's wet.
Wonderful - no split ends.
But - why didn't common sense tell me to comb from the bottom up?
You have helped me save my last seven hairs - HA!

I have a question for any of you on this. If it offends anyone I am sorry but I am fairly new to this thing.
I never had many split ends until I started using hot sticks. My hair just didn't do that. I could go forever without having to trim it because my hair is thick and coarse, like straw.
If our hair is supposed to be our glory then aren't we supposed to take care of it the best it should be, meaning trimming the split ends off. It is possible to do that without cutting any length off. That's what makes healthy looking hair.
I have been thinking about this because one of my friends from church wore her hair down one day and it looked absolutely awful and tattered. I thought to myself if someone saw my hair like that knowing I was Pentecostal they certainly wouldn't want to give it a try.
An evangelist came to our church that said we shouldn't trim the split ends off, pull them off, or burn them off (I didn't even know people did that.) Is that the main consensus? Maybe I need a revelation. I don't know.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The above statement is why an evangelist needs to stick to evangelizing. If they make statements such as this it can confuse the new converts and also run off the sinners who regardless of hair or no hair are still lost. What an unwise statement to make over a pulpit.Evangelism has to do with reaching the lost.lv sis.c

True, he did confuse me. But I thought maybe God might be talking to me too. Some people in our church thin their hair so I don't see the difference. The blades on the thinning scissors are just a different length.

Its better to keep your eyes on Jesus my sister. He will never steer you wrong or disapoint you.If not careful we can begin to judge others and that is reserved for God alone. If you feel a conviction to grow your hair uncut then do so.But if someone doesn't see it like you do.Just love them and respect their choice.
But never let man try to talk you out of any conviction you may have given by the Lord.If this has truly been given to you by the Lord then consider it dear and obey his voice and his word.In keeping a right spirit and a right attitude you are putting yourself in a postion of meekness. The word says the meek shall inherit the earth. And I agree that thinning is the same as cutting.
If a person feels to not cut their hair then they should go all the way.
What actually determines the mindset of this is the answer to the question:
Who did you grow your hair and dedicate it to in the first place...Jesus or man? If you did it for Jesus then you will not turn from it regardless of who tries to convince you otherwise..it is dedicated to the Lord.If you did it because man told you to and you obeyed him then sooner or later you will break your dedication because man is not God...Jesus is.....lv sis.c

I have to make a comment and ask a question about hair. First of all, I was out of a holiness, truth church for awhile (I didn't have any other option at the time). While I was going to a different church, I decided to cut my hair. The reason I did that is because I hadn't cut my hair in like 8 years and it was getting unruly. I have naturally curly hair and it got so stringy and horrible to handle. I am only 24 years old, but I was wearing my hair in a bun ALL the time. I didn't know what else to do. My husband is disabled, so we are on a fixed income and can't afford expensive hair products. I loved my hair after I cut it. It was so easy to wash, brush and style. I couldn't believe it was so wonderful. Now that I am back in the truth church, I don't want to cut my hair again. My only problem is that since it has started growing out again, it is falling out almost by the handfuls. I don't know what to do. I cut my hair in the end of April or the beginning of May this year and it is already causing me problems. Does anyone have any suggestions that don't cost a lot of money? I want to obey God, but it is getting irritating again. Thanks so much.
P.S. I donated my hair to Locks of Love for cancer patients when I cut it off.

Hi Sister Renee,
If you will read some of these threads and do want to grow nice hair you will find much help. For one thing why is your hair falling out? That is not a problem because its long but either a nutrition or hormonal problem. For instance I have hair to my thighs and it does not fall out in handfuls.I also wear it up alot.Maybe its the products you are using. You don't need expensive products.Plain olive oil will do good for a hot oil treatment. But your hair is a reflection of your diet. The more protein in your diet the nicer your hair will be also vitamins a and d, and c....lv sis.c

I have been told that hair falls out because of stress. So, let's all pray for less stress. :) Get a comb that people use for permed hair. It won't pull so much out when you comb it. They have them with regular handles at the beauty supply place. I use Pantene (it puts a wax on your hair) or Thermasilk shampoo and conditioner. Sometimes I use Suave shampoo but then finish it off with just Pantene conditioner. I have also used Johnson's hair detangler (They usually carry some brand of it at the dollar store or a grocery outlet store.) that you use on babies when I couldn't afford Biosilk Silk Therapy. Last time someone wanted to buy me a gift, I told them I wanted a big bottle of Biosilk Silk Therapy. It lasts for quite a while and you can really tell the difference. Well, that about all I can offer. These other ladies might have some great ideas stored up. They sure fixed my hairdo situation.

p.s.I love that Biosilk...where do you get it in big bottles?I get it in small bottles.Boy if I had a big bottle I would be fixed up.let me know...sis.c

Pantene and Thermasilk cost too much. My hair has fell out since I started growing it over 8 years ago. I have an aunt that can't grow her hair because it falls out in clumps and leaves her bald. I am under a lot of stress right now, but I wasn't under that much 8 years ago. I just don't understand what is going on. I can only afford products like Suave or VO5 because they are the cheapest. You have to understand that we have a budget of $35 a month for household supplies. That includes EVERYTHING...i.e. body soap, laundry soap, dish soap, t.p., deoderant, garbage bags, shampoo, conditioner...you get the picture. I can't afford anything like Pantene or Thermasilk. My hair did fine right after I cut it. It hardly fell out at all. But after it started growing out again, it started falling out as well. ARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!

I saw Joan Jet at the spa/salon today. :) One of my previous co-workers bought me a manicure/pedicure there so I traded it for a massage. (I have major neck and shoulder pain. So much that when I raise my hands at church, my arm goes numb) Anyway, I was going to ask this lady if she was going to a Halloween Party and then thought I better not in case she wasn't. Short black spiked hair with paint in it. I also got quite a few stares in my long denim dress with long sleeves (Hot Fresno, CA and all) and no make up but I just gave them a big ole' huge smile each time. I got the big bottle of biosilk at a place called Top Cut. (Like where they give 10.00 hair cuts.) It was either 38.00 or 48.00 for 11.6 ounces. My hair has grown quite fast too. The picture of me here is in 2000 I think and my hair is down to my elbows almost.

Sister Renee:
This is what I would do then. I would use the Suave Shampoo and maybe get a small bottle of Pantene conditioner and tell everyone else they can't use it. They can use the Suave Conditioner. Even if you dilute the Pantene half and half with water ,so it lasts longer, it will still be enough to condition your hair well. There are also some homeade conditioners that I have read about but I don't know how well they work. If not, Suave conditioner's been okay on my hair before. I just wouldn't use white rain or VO5 shampoo or conditioner. That's been very harsh on my hair.

The olive oil trick really works! When I was single I would saturate my hair with olive oil and then braid it. I would put a towel on my pillow and get up in the morning and was my hair. I usually did this on Friday night and then washed my hair Sat morning and Sunday morning to make SURE the oil was gone. My hair looked wonderful and began growing too. I use Infusium 23 (you can buy it at Walmart and it is inexpensive). They have shampoo, Conditioner, and a leave-in treatment. I can't use Pantene. For some reason it drys out my hair and makes it feel like straw (Everyone's chemistry is different and shampoos react differently on different people)

I'll give that a try. My hair is like straw. Maybe that's why. I also have used Mane and Tail. The real kind from my old horse.

Thanks for all the tips. I will have to talk to my husband to see if that work out. You know, I am using VO5 right now, and it is doing alright. The conditioner is thicker than Suave and makes it easier for me to comb my hair out. I guess each thing works different for different people.
P.S. I NEVER use White Rain. I can't stand it.

I don't have the same hair type as you, but I find that the Suave Professional shampoos work a lot better than the regular Suave -- and they are typically about .50 more per bottle at Wal-Mart, which isn't bad.
In comparing the ingredients to the professionals, they are not much different.

The only cure I know for split ends is the 'C' word...
Yes, clipping the ends. I do not have chemicals in my hair to relax the 'natural curl' out of it. Stuff was frying my hair out of my scalp.
That and stress, demonic attack...Whatever it is had me almost going bald on the top of my head. I have been (SHHH!) sporting weaves and extensions in my hair for years.
It works for me; I have to admit I do let the girls clip my ends once a year or so, maybe a 1/2 inch or so.
My wearing weaves is not a matter of vanity, but I do not want to scare off the little kiddies! I mean literally...
The first time my baby Dominic saw me without any weave in my hair, at about one year old, he went ballistic! I was nursing him and he would not even nurse from me! :) I was sooooo hurt!
I guess I scared the youngin' half to death! So I have to make myself presentable, no, not to a husband or a courter, but my own sons! My oldest, Donovan, is very particular about how I go out looking. Critiques me on what I wear, my hair, the works!
I feel sorry for any man who comes within a stones' throw of me! They are going to have to get past my sons first, one of whom at 11 years old is over five feet tall already! ;)

Renee,
I just thought of something I haven't used in eons...
It can be purchased in pharmacies and mostly beauty supply stores. It is a conditioner called "Aphogee" It stinks a little, kinda slimy runny yellow stuff in a little bottle, the bottle is a little expensive, I think I used to pay nine dollars for the bottle. But it lasts forever.
They also sell it in single packs for one use for a dollar or two. You wash your hair with the shampoo of your choice, then put Aphogee in your hair after towel drying it. It works best if you can sit under a dryer and let it dry for best results. When I did not have a dryer, I would just let it dry naturally, sometimes for hours, then rinse out. It heals damaged hair, a reconstructer, and is good for damaged hair.
I think with this and no chemicals in my hair, I saved my hair. And I have used eggs in my hair and on my face as a facial and the protein in eggs does wonders!
Hot oil treatments are really good too. When I had dry hair I did that a lot too. But since I got weaves, I don't need them.
Hope I helped...
Love, Sis. Wenona

Thanks for the advice. I know a lot of young women that I used to go to church with are wearing hair pieces now. They put their hair in a bun and then put this curly hair piece over it. To me that isn't using your hair as your glory. I don't think that your weave is a bad thing, but these girls have beautiful hair. There is no reason that they can't show it off. I don't understand.

Hi sissa's. :) I am going to go try to find that stuff and see what it does. There was a wig store that I happened into one day as I was looking for an old fashioned hair rat to make a pouf in my hair. They had stuff like that. As far as weaves go, they just make your hair longer, right? I think some people have problems having their hair grow. That seems okay to me too. I do agree with you Sister Renee about the curly hair attachments. I think people just do it so they don't have to mess with their own hair and just stick it on. I thought about doing it but my luck, I couldn't get a close match. In my personal opinion ,for myself only that is, those fall into the jewelry category as does the fake flowers that some wear on their dresses out here in California. But that's just my deal, if it doesn't bother them it's alright with me. I have given in and worn a flower once or twice on my lapel and the roof didn't fall in so I don't know.
But I am definitely going to try that stuff because those hot sticks fried my hair.

If you think removing the weave freaked out the baby just imagine this:
A guy marries a nice looking lady. They go home and get ready for bed...
off comes the hair piece.
Off comes the girdle
off comes the wonder bra.
Off comes the high heel.....gee he thought she was tall.
Out come the false teeth.
Merle Norman washed off the face.....wow ....he didn't know she had freckles.......
And what is left....REALITY......hahahhaha.....

I wanted to let everyone know that we went tonight to get our stuff for the month. JW was really concerned about my hair (I have been discussing with him about these threads) and he said that my hair was important to take care of. He doesn't want me to cut my hair again (he didn't want it in the first place) or doesn't want me to want to cut my hair because it is so uncontrollable. We went looking around at some of the discount stores and found TREsemme at Walmart for under $3. It is a BIG bottle that will last me a long time. The kind that I got is formulated to heal and prevent breakage and split-ends. That is my hair, ALWAYS breaking off. I noticed a difference, subtle though it was, when I used it tonight. I am sure that it will get better the more I use it. I am glad that JW agreed to get it for me. It takes a load off my mind. Thanks again for all your different solutions.

Hi all... just touching base...
My hair was doing so well for ages, then in the last couple of weeks I've noticed it's turning all strawy again... =o(
BUT! I also noticed that if I give it a real good combing through straight before I wash it, it makes quite a difference...
I'm still too scared to do the olive oil thing... hee hee...
I also want to say thank you to DDC for what you said earlier and would like to echo her thoughts.
When I've looked at my "straw" it has popped into my mind that I should trim it, but then I remember that my hair is for God, not for man.
I believe the "hair issue" is about obedience, and therefore I will not EVER trim or cut it (please sister's don't feel that I am judging anyone who chooses to cut as it is a personal conviction) because being obedient to my Jesus is more important to me than whether my hair dazzles!
Thanks all for replying to this thread... it's nice to hear all the stories about hair, and all the great tips!

I took out my weave over the weekend and I am letting it all hang out, as they say...
I am sporting a fro like Michael Jackson B.S., before surgery....:)
My kids are laughing at me, but I and my scalp are enjoying this newfound freedom!:)
I went to the beauty supply place to look for Aphogee and realized there are more than one products with this name, there is the reconstructer/moisturizer, the damaged hair treatment and the something else....the one I am referring to above is the one for damaged hair. You use it every six weeks to repair damaged hair, smells awful but works wonders on your hair.
I also find any leave in conditioner is good for the hair...trying to think of another style for my hair in that I cannot afford to get it done at this time either...I will think of something!;)
Love, Sis. Wenona
P.S. Sis. Cooper I just read your reply ....that is tooo funny!

Actually Sister Wenona one of my very closest friend and pastors wives is black and goes to the beauty shop. She does not have a weave but gets her hair done in a kind of wave high up on her head.It is beautiful. My girlfriend Martha treated me to a similar hairdo a few years ago and I have much respect for ladies who have to have their hair pulled so tight.I think my eyes were fixed in that postion for a while and the gel tightened my hair so much it actually hurt. But to be dear to my friend who just had to do this for me I tried it.I looked like the lady on the old startrek movies Deanna Troy.Honestly because my hair is dark and skin olive.People gave me a once over in the resturants. It was either I looked so lovely or they couldn't believe I had the nerve to wear it....and hey I do....lv sis.c

My hair is so funny, it has grown back considerably and I believe I am ready to wear MY actual hair again....
It is just that now I have to find a do that I can do and deal with on a daily basis w/o all the fuss and confusion. I do not want to perm it for chemicals pull my hair out. Someone told me I have nice hair to put in dreadlocks, but that is such a permanent option. I would have to consider and pray long and hard on that one...the only way to take out dreads is to (oh, my!) cut them out! So I have to be willing to stick it out for the long haul.
I am tired of weaves, though. The Fro I have been sporting well, let's just say the kids do not want to be seen in public with me!:)
WHen I drop them off to school, they say, "hurry up ma, hurry up and kiss me and roll up the window and go!" My daughter said, "Ma, when you kissed me your fro stuck me in my eye...:) :)!"
So I guess it is time for a change!

Sister Wenona,
What beauty supply store do you buy that conditioner at? Sallys?

Yes, it is called Aphogee, the damaged hair treatment. It should be at any Sally's Beauty Shop. It runs about two or three dollars for a pack of one use.
It is real good.

I was just wondering if anyone had noticed a difference in their hair depending on how often you wash it. I know some women only wash their hair once a week, some twice, some every day... I was just curious as to if anyone had ever experimented with this. Thanks.

I only wash my hair once or twice a week. But my hair tends to be dry and I wear it up all the time.If I would wear it down I would have to wash it more often. My daughter has normal hair and she washes it more often. It is so beautiful. Some sisters have to wash their hair daily because their scalp gets oily.I take care of a teen age girl and her hair needs washing every other day.Which means I get the portable shampoo bowl out and all the equipment. It sure is a chore. But I could not consciencely live with her sitting around looking like a grease bomb.lv sis.c

It's all about "treasuring" our GLORY!
My hair has been short - above my ears - and long - just above my knees. More than once!
Anyway, here are my observations on caring for my hair...I wash it every two to three days -- or after any really heavy hairspray usage. I use Suave Daily Clarifying, as it is good at preventing build-up. But I love InterCellular 100% Tea Shampoo -- when I can afford it. If I notice it getting a little dry, I use Aussie 3 minute miracle and Infusium 23 conditioner to help, but only on the ends, as I'm just a little on the oily side of normal.
I do NOT comb it out BEFORE washing it....if there is hairspray or tangles, a lot of them will wash out with shampoo and conditioner. ALSO -- if I plan ahead, I usually wash my hair before bed....towel it dry and -- WITHOUT BRUSHING OR COMBING IT OUT -- I loosely braid it and fasten with a soft scrunchy to sleep. This prevents it from tangling and more than it already is. I only brush out my hair just before I fix it. I think we just brush our hair to death! I also keep blow drying and hot rollering to a minimum.
If I'm going out, I generally wear it up. If I'm staying home, a fresh, neat braid will do. Six years ago, I was out of church and it was almost as short as my husband's. Now it touches the seat of the chair behind me when I sit down. Recently I was caught in a rush and had to wash it, blow it dry and wear it to Wednesday night service down.
A sweet, older sister, who has never had her hair cut in her life, but just not blessed with length or thickness teased me about it. She asked me to please not ever wear it down again as it caused her to covet. :grumble: I told her honestly, "Sister, I don't know why the Lord saw fit to give this back to me..." (she remembers when it was longer than this 14 years ago!) "all I can think is that He knows I must need a WHOLE LOT of glory!"
We agreed to compromise...IF I have to wear it down for any reason, I will NOT sit anywhere in front of her!
One last thought -- when my unsaved friends and family discuss this, I always want to as them "WHO decided that split ends were UGLY?? HOLLYWOOD??? Maybe my Lord LIKES 'em!"
Pam<---loving every square inch of this forum and waiting for ya'll to tell her to shut up and get out!

Very funny about the split ends since I am obsessed with hating them. But you learn not to trim them off in your car when your pastor pulls up along side of you at a stoplight. God, I got the hint..............

Both I and my two daughters have really long hair.We love it.No more mornings with one side of my hair doing one thing and the other doing something else.lv sis.c
where do you get sunglintz at? thank you

ok, i've tried frizz-ease spray but never the shampoo and I like it but it seems to make my hair stiff and sticky. But heres my faves... Shampoo - aussie , infusium 23, conditioner - aussie 3 minute miracle, Infusium deep conditioner, loreal vibe 3 minute treatment, (i use a deep treatment everyday and let it soak up to ten minutes) i'm not sure but i don't think you can over-conditioner your hair, so if 3 minutes is good, ten is better. Plus that stuffs expensive so get all you can out of it and let it soak. If you tend to have oily hair then only condition the ends. And follow up with Infusium 23 leave in conditioner. You know how it comes in that old squirt bottle and you can get it evenly spread on your hair? well, I get a little spray bottle, pour it in that and i can get it more evenly thoughout. Sometimes I put egg yolk on my hair, I'm not sure if it helps but i've picked that up somewhere, also a mayonaise soak is suppose to condition it too. I've also hears that you should rinse your hair in the coldest water you can possibly stand. Hot water isn't good for it.

oh yeah and theres another leave-in conditioner called new image. it's in a red bottle at sally's and it's really good. Oh and by the way. i work full time and i don't have a lot of time on my hands, so i'll go days without washing my hair at a time, and I try not to bring it up, but i have slipped before and told off on myself and people seem to think thats awful and that you should wash your hair everyday and they make me feel really nasty, so just wanted to thank yall for clarifying that I'm not the only one that doesn't. If it's not broke, don't fix it, so if it's not dirty, don't was it. Plus i think its possible to have your hair too clean and the it flys away and you can't do a thing with it.

I must say I really have enjoyed this thread. I love seeing what products other sisters have used and if they really work or not
Lellingsworth.....I laughed so hard when I read about your pastor pulling up next to you at the stoplight!!! how funny!!!!
SisMilam...my goodness girl you use alot of products!! LOL Do you use all them at once or do you alternate between them?
I also only wash my hair about 3 times a week. I use Pantene, both the 2 in 1 and the daily clarifying. Let me tell you.....I only use the clarifying shampoo once a week..WOW! I love it! And I never comb my hair out..I use a pic ONLY! Once all the tangles are out then I will use the comb to style.
I found a NEW product I live VERY well. Its called ZERO FRIZZ. Its in a blue bottle and cost about $4.00 at WalMart. Not only does it keep my frizz uner control but it smoothes out the split ends. I really like it alot.
Now for the hairspray...this is about driving me insane!!!!! My hair seems to not hold in place good unless it is super glued. I was using this FREEZE hairspray by Sebastian but have not be able to find in (at a good price anyway) Today I bought AUSSIE INSTANT FREEZE...so we will see :goof:
One thing we all must remember...what works for me may not work for you...we all have different types of hair...I have to use the freeze hairspray while my daughter on the other hand can get away with light spritz. But is nice we can all share our secrets.

this thread is interesting- I agree it is really cool to hear what everybody uses. I want to try some of them. I can't use hairsprays though- it is really weird because hairspray makes my scalp itch and feel weird, and if it is cheap hairspray I even start to feel weird mentally right away. I even tried some "natural", less chemically harsh hairsprays from an organic food store and that didn't work for me either. Thankfully I never tried dying my hair, who knows what that would have done to my poor brain. I can't do anything on my nails, either, it makes me feel weird too. Not that I want to, personally I wouldn't do nail strengtheners/clear polish either (just me). Chemical sensitivities runs in my mother's family, her father was sensitive, and my mother is quite disabled with it (like, perfume & copier fluid smells & all will cause a severe reaction). My little boy will get rashes from some baby soaps too. Praise God though that's the extent of it, life is normal, I just avoid scented products when I can, but don't fret if it has scent (like dishwashing soap or something).
Not using hairspray, I can't do every hairstyle, but one would be surprised at how you can get by without it, using pins. I'm kind of sad that I can't do those gorgeous cascades of curls (my hair would keep it for 15 minutes max without loads of sprays & mousses) but I do some pin curls sometimes and I guess that's just how life goes.

There is a good product out there by Biologe called split ends. It is in a small can and you spray it on. My daughter likes Redken Extreme conditioner the best. She has very, very long hair, does not trim it, and her hair is gorgeous.
Comb the knots out while wet, and do not use a brush on wet hair. Also do not use hot rollers as an every day event!:)

Sister, stop using Pantene. I used to use Pantene. My straw like hair is now very soft since I quit. I switched to Renewal 5x Shampoo and Conditioner. Lime Green and Gray bottles. (Walmart) Infusion shampoo and conditioner does the same thing but is way more expensive I noticed. Hairspray: If you want stucco in your hair as we call it. It works, you have to wash it out to get rid of it, at Sally's it's a tall green can called New Image Instant Freeze.

Mane & Tail did absolutely nothing for MY hair..maybe it works for others, my sisfriend uses it - why I'm not sure since her hair is so thin, it couldn't possibly frizz..

I have somewhat fine hair- I don't know if it has been mentioned before but what I do is wash it only once or maybe twice in the shower, the oils in my hair are still in the ends of my hair, not rinsed completely out. I use a thickening shampoo, conditioner would help if I bothered. I think it helps fine hair to always have it up, and not pulled straight back. Have a gentle pouf in the front. I mentioned before the trick of using leftover hairs wrapped up in a hairnet to make a rat, to make your hair look fuller. Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, it's too long- maybe these have been mentioned.

Hi all,
I am asking you to help me pray.
I am praying for restoration for my hair, that it be healthy and with no split ends. Im also praying God help my hair grow fast to a length that will bring Glory to Him in every way. I guess I mentioned this somewhere before.
The medication, and having been sick for so long, my hair is damaged. It is split to all different levels. It is baby fine almost. It is slowly beginning to gain a shine, however after just one day it looks lifeless oily and yeeewwwwwwwwwwwww all over again.
Any suggestions.
be blessed

I have baby fine hair...don't have to many "split" ends....I have to wash it every day....I let it air dry---hardly ever use hot sticks anymore....
use everything from Suave to Aveda....I condition every time I wash-so every day...just the ends....
A vinegar rinse every so often restores pH to your scalp---cuts all the gack from your hair and leaves it incredibly shiny.
I would suppose if you started now to take a vitamin supplement (Olay has one especailly designed for hair/nails) your new hair will grow out and the old will probably break off and go away....

I have a family of 6 so we buy the big ol bottles of it. My husband use to have hair like straw because he has always used pantene. His hair is so soft now.
I have very tangly hair and I can take a pic right through my hair when I use the Renewal. I can not fathom using anything else..It is awesome and VERY affordable
