Ok, so I just used a catchy thread title to lure you in. What do you think about the Dixie Chicks and other celebrities using their celebrity status as a platform to soapbox their negative opinions about the President and the war in Iraq?
I heard a man on a talk radio station make the statement that the Dixie Chicks should have thought about the serious repurcussions their statements would have. For one thing, they were addressing a foreign audience were anti-US sentiment was already high. All they did was fan the flames.
Another thing is, their biggest fan-base consists of ultra-patriotic, red-blooded 'Mericans. They didn't take kindly to the remarks. Many are already returning tickets to upcoming concerts, calling radio stations demanding they boycott their songs, and smashing their CD's. It could ultimately result in career suicide for the Chicks.
Now, I'm not a fan. Never have been. The remarks they made have no bearing on my loyalty to them, which was zero to begin with! What do the rest of y'all think? Should they be offered one-way free passage to France?
And what about the Muslim American soldier who killed and maimed other US soldiers because he protested the war and didn't want to kill fellow Muslims? Did that justify killing fellow Americans? Should he have been "taken care of" right then and there on the spot? I mean, this is war, folks!

The Dixie Chicks are a country/pop group from Texas. They are supposed to be real famous, sort along the lines of Shania Twain..

Another 'hot' country singer.

The music industry is so corrupt; I used to sing in a secular group during one of my backslidden periods. Had opportunities to go pro but, as one of the group members told me, 'Wenona, you just don't sing R&B with as much passion as you do gospel...Why?'

So, What they say dont mean NOTHING to this man of God, what is important to me is How I act and speak as a Living epistle of Jesus!

The Dixie Chicks are the ones who are now singing old Fleetwood Mac songs and dressing like witches.They have a video out that is entirely symbolic of witchcraft.They may look innocent but no one who is innocent sings that stuff or dresses and puts out this kind of video.Thats not country music but Roots Music...Wiccan Roots that is.I am glad their concerts are being boycotted....ddc

Sis. Cooper, I had a Wiccan witch tell me I offended her by telling her, "God bless you." I kind of discerned that spirit on her before she revealed this to me, but it still was kinda crazy and weird.

I mean who would ever get offended by being blessed by God?!:huh:

I've been debating this very thing myself, there is a young, well, maybe 25-30ish yr. old beautiful woman, one of those whom dress always in black, dye their hair black, and she is very pleasant, almost TOO pleasant, and I feel she is one of those Wiccan witches, (having some knowledge as my niece was/is involved in that), but don't know quite how to or whether I even should, confirm that she is, because, what then?
Should I attempt to evangelize her? Most would say yes, but then again I refer to the scriptures you just quoted,, and that seem to be an answer to that dilmena., also this same dilemna with those whom are homosexual, at work, its hard to say anything to them w/o being attacked and possibly being dismissed from employment for this so called "sexual harassment", the gays have so many rights? now. Some have already been fired from our workplace for harassing the gays about their ways.

Sis. tufluv please look at the scripture. There is nothing mentioned about witches. The scriptures says [B]Do not wish anyoneGods speed that does not obey the apostolic doctrine. The only people you are to wish Gods speed to are born again people.

This morning I saw a sign that read: "Support Bush. Support our Troops" Isn't that an oxymoron? If there is something I just can't swallow is someone waving the flag with one hand, and the Bible with the other.

Lets see how Jesus blessed those that did him wrong.

The only way for you or I to bless someone is by prayer just like Jesus did, and the life that we live before them.
To go around like many do and tell everone you meet God bless you is not giving that person a blessing. What happens when you or I say God bless to someone outside the truth is we have become partaker of their evil ways.

I don't think saying "God Bless you" and bidding someone God speed are the same.

It is true that God blesses everyone, is it not? He blessed us all by allowing us to live while we were in our sins. He blessed us further by opening our eyes to see truth. May He do the same for them....
