I live in South Louisiana about thirty miles south of Lafayette and twenty or so miles north of the Gulf. When you look at a map of La just look at the bottom middle and you will find Kaplan. When I drive up to work on both sides of the roadways are fields of rice growing. When its planting time they are filled with water and surrounded by levies. When its cutting time they are the greenest color you have ever seen.lv sis.c

I was raised in Alabama, but I now live on the outskirts of Carlisle, Pennsylvania in a little country town called Newville.Out my back windows I see the mountains and a Farm and out my front window I see the mountains and corn fields. It is beautiful here. I must say that Alabama is very beautiful too!

As I already posted, in another thread you started, I live in G.R. and Bro. Rose was my pastor down here for many years as I was growing up. I sincerely love him, and remember the many times he would be preaching and there appeared to be a glowing aura resting on his head as he assuredly was being annointed by the Holy Ghost.

I am friends also, with Bro Terry Hemmes. Lord willing, we will be able to visit you and your church real soon.

Bro/Sis Jsp,
We are about 16 miles from where the majority of the shuttle and crew landed after it deteriorated at Hemphill, Tx. We are between both big dams at Sam Rayburn and Toledo Bend Reservoirs.
Everything you hear about Texas isn't true except for Rednecks!
They will give you the shirt off their back but you better not mess with their Pick Up Truck, Hunting Dog, Wife or kids and most of the time in that order unless they're in Church. Then it's Church, truck, dog, wife, and kids! lol j/k I think!:D

Brookeland is a very small community as far as towns go and we do have our own Post Office!
We sit between Center Texas and Jasper on the map on Hwy 96.

Love Ya' in Jesus!! Cherokee

I live in an 'open air' sauna, 3/4 of the year! Muggy coastal weather, but its pretty here., [Corpus Christi, TX aka "sparkling city by the sea"]. One of the best 'draws' (for some) is the beach, especially at 'spring break' time. College kids run around half naked/drunk there! :grumble: :grumble:
I do like living by large bodies of water, seaside. Our bay off the gulf of Mexico, is so-o nice...fishing is great!
As much as I gripe about the weather, this IS one of the most beautiful midsize cities, for being mostly flat land :D Its not as crowded as bigger cities like San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Dallas (my old home)...but its starting to get there now! New taller freeways  they scare me! I also live in the neighborhood I grew up in, during school days.
Personally> its time for a change! Oregon, here I come! (in my dreams)! lol  Somewhere cooler.

I was just wondering because a lot of the talk is "womanly" (if you know what I mean), so I thought it was weird that men were posting. I saw a post of Bro. Dave's on how to be a good wife...and I thought it was kind of strange because the women were talking about "pleasing" their husbands. I just find it strange to see men post on threads that have that kind of content in them. I am not saying that men shouldn't post here, I hope that isn't how I came across, but it is just weird to me. :)

This site is not for the pentecostal only but for all the people that want to learn and to know more about God. I was not an original pentecostal also. I was grafted to be a pentecostal by my husband, and I dont like it at first, they are noisy but now I am one of them that make a joyful noice unto the lord to praise God.

Jamele,

It is ok and know how it is when your in a hurry and just type it out the way it pops in your mind. I wasn't offended in any way, but I know how it is in Alabama, because when we go and visit my wife's best friend, I can see how they are hicks, but there is nothing wrong with being a hick.

Yankee, I am and according to my wife, I am a hick. I don't consider myself a hick, but I am a computer geek, which is what my wife also calls me.

Yes, there is a difference between a hick and a redneck. A hick is simple lovable people(not all of them are lovable though) and a redneck loves to fight.

Sister Cooper,

In Chalmette or as they say here: in da parish. I don't particually like it here and when I left here before, the Lord brought me back, but He also made a way where I could go to college. So, as far as that, that is what makes it tolerable here. I deal with it here for now, because of the Lord and because of college.

Sister Cooper,

I have been to many churches and the only one that I was being spiritually fed at was at a AOG church when I first moved here to Louisiana, but the Lord moved us out from the church about a month after I got here. I would rather go there, but I can't because the Lord did move us from there. They might not have the right doctrine, but they do show the love of God there and they teach about how to live for God, unlike many other churches.

I loved the pastors at the UPC churches that we went to, but being spiritually fed is more important. If you don't get fed, then eventually, you will die.

Friend thanks for taking the time to reply.I have this attitude as of late.I would rather have the truth in love at a UPC church and devote myself to digging out extra stuff myself and or being a part of a group like the GNC than to go to a church that teaches false doctrine anyday of the week.Love is important but love alone does not save us.We need to love the truth.Love comes also in many forms. Now I am in no way doubting what you have through but I know for a fact that it is better to be in truth. You need to mature as a saint.Seeing the need for more of the word is a start. Is it quite possible that you are called to do more than you are doing and becoming dissatisfied just taking up adequates space in church? If you are more advanced in the word then become a bible study teacher. That is such a needed area in the church and pardon my borrowing of scripture....few there be that find it.If you get the drift.lv sis.c

Sister Cooper,

You can have your UPC church, but I would rather have what God has for me. I would rather go to a trinitarian church where how to live for God is taught than to go to a UPC church where nothing but salvation is taught and how to live for God isn't.

BTW, trinitarians do have the truth when it comes to how to live for God and if you don't want to believe it, then that is on you.

This is funny, but when someone disagrees with people, it seems that Apostolics don't want to have nothing to do with the person that disagrees with them.

Wow!! There was only one posting of someone living in the Northeast. I am from Massachusetts. I live on the CT border so I go to Bro. Hanson's church...Acts II Ministries in Thompson, Ct.

I have been telling my husband we need to move south and get us some southern accents! I think this is just proof! Everybody seems to love the south! My husband visited someone in Louisiana and said there was nothing like it. I like the Northeast, but I am really getting tired of the snow. I would love to see what kind of culture shock there would be when it comes to the way people interact/or don't....cause we all know what the Northeast is known for...the hard, stubborn, rude people.

Soooo, when it's time to buy a house, should we be looking in the South???

I am told that Connecticut people are only rude closer to New York- in central Connecticut (where I am) they are nice. They are a bit stand-offish at first, but if you smile a lot, and keep quiet and listen for a bit, they warm right up. In Canton and the little towns like this they make an effort to have a real close community feel.

Hello.

I live in Greensboro, NC where I attend The Pentecostals of Greensboro. I go to an awesome church (UPCI) and have a wonderful, kind, wise pastor who is a great teacher. None of this "lack of teaching" or "not getting fed" stuff goin' on here. :D Not all UPC churches are the same.  :grumble:  :yeah:

I was born in Wilmington, NC (on the coast) and have lived in Southport and Boiling Spring Lakes, NC (also on the coast) as a little girl. From there we moved to Tulsa, OK. Then back to Southport. Not long after that, we moved to Garner, NC (on the outskirts of Raleigh) and then Raleigh (Pastor Wayne Huntley) where I received the Holy Ghost and was baptized in Jesus' name at the age of 10.

At age 12, we moved to Dale City, VA (a place we did not enjoy) and then we moved to Medina, OH (south of Cleveland) when I was 15. When I was 17 (a few months shy of 18), we moved to Conroe, TX (outside of Houston). We didn't like it there at all and moved to Greensboro shortly after I graduated.

Less than a year later, we moved to a small town outside of Greensboro called Pleasant Garden. Lovely place to live. A year later, I moved in with my grandma in Hope Mills, NC (outside of Fayetteville) where Bro. Jesse Williams was my pastor. I lived there for several months before moving back in with my parents. By this time they had moved again (a Randleman address, but they were actually closer to Pleasant Garden and Level Cross than they were Randleman), but were still right outside of Greensboro.

My parents separated and I got married. My mom, my husband and I moved to a house in Pleasant Garden. Less than a year later, my husband and I moved to La Grange, NC (between Kinston & Goldsboro). We stayed there almost a year and then moved back to Greensboro when I was 9 months pregnant with our son. (We've since had a daughter also. Our son will be 7 in April and our daughter just turned 4.)

We moved one more time to a different house (one we're buying), but are still in Greensboro.

I love it here. Love my pastor, my church, the restaurants, the shopping, etc.

Every year (usually in the Spring) we take our vacation to the Southport area (Southport & Oak Island). I love it there so much and I would move there in a heartbeat if I didn't love it here so much. :D

Was this too long? Sorry about that. :)

Love and blessings!

Hi everyone~
Im new to this site and I have to say I LOVE IT!
I am from Clevleand Ohio.
And for the comment of *not being fed at a UPC church*
It is VERY unfair to say ALL UPC churches are like that!
We have a AWESOME pastor who is very wise and knowledgable in the word and I look MORE forward to our bible studies than a Sunday Night because he gets down to the nuggets of the word. And if you are *hungry* then pick up the spoon and feed yourself, since when was it the pasor;s job to walk around spoon-feeding every christian? And BY ALL MEANS, I am talking about the *seasoned* christians..we have babies in Christ that he has to worry about.
And let me add...I say that in ALL kindness...not to rude at all :)

Yes -- I tend to jump right in when I feel at home. I've been looking for a place to talk to others who believe the same things....I've made lots of friends online in the days since I first got "wired", :yeah: , but none of them apostolic in their beliefs.

I was very blessed to be a young person in the First Pentecostal Church of Bogalusa. Anyone who every visited the day services of the Bible Conference (before the 1980s when the new church was begun) walked out the church door and stared straight at my house!

Because I never needed a ride, I could always be on hand to participate in everything and our pastor loved to see the young people working bus ministry, visitation, etc. Because of the laws, we were granted all five days off from school for "religious observances" and could attend the Bible Conference. I'd be in the kitchen before sun up helping the ladies prepare breakfast and lunch for the starving hordes! :p

They would be in class singing every chance they could get. Didn't know they were Apostolic; I wasn't at the time, but was hungry. Later on, when I found out they had a church and was preaching the truth after I got saved, I had to go and see my former classmates! They have a wonderful, thriving ministry going on down there! Their church building used to be a skating rink where drugs and gunfire was the norm...until God shut it down and renovated it into His House for His Glory!!!

I live in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. It's about 30 miles southeast of Nashville. I go to the Pentecostals of Murfreesboro (it's UPC). Our senior pastor is Bro. Phil DePriest. We've gone there since I was 4 years old. Before that we drove to Nashville to Bro. Becton's church (where my dad, my grandaddy, and my great-grandaddy went). My parents finally got tired of the drive twice a week, so we started going to the Murfreesboro church. (Check out our website sometime: http://www.pentecostalsofmurfreesboro.com. If you go to the Music Dept. section and click on Music Staff you will see a pic of me and hubby. We're the Kidz Praize directors.)

For those who live in Corinth, MS. My great-grandmother still has family there. I can't think of their last names, though. My pastor's grandparents also live there. Can't think of their last names either, though. They go to a pentecostal church, but I can't think of the name of it.

The great city of Chicago with all its hot air (no, not breaking wind :p ) in this corner. I could never make it in the rural country around it...I'd go crazy.

Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is almost as windy as CHICAGO is rumored to be, especially when crossing the I-44 bridge at 71st street... I always feel like my car is going to be blown off the bridge and into the river....

It's actually not very windy at all in Chicago: methinks all the buildings and trees don't allow for very much wind movement (ie. no tornadoes since who knows when...1800's? Early 1900's? When nobody lived here?).

Have you ever visited Homestead Hertiage in Waco?No ma'am, but we met a family from there in Wal-mart one night and really enjoyed the conversation, though I was questionable about the "closeness" of their living.
They are spoken of with respect in Waco and there was an article in the Waco paper in the fall about the orchestra and things that are made there.

I noticed that someone had mentioned them on another thread, but I don't think they are without electricity, etc. You can go there any time and tour the area.
I do know they don't have church during the week at church. They have services in each other's houses.

There are a lot of Mennonite families in our area here and around Grandview and these people seem about the same, except they claim to be Oneness, Jesus name people. The family we talked to were from Garland origionally and were very happy to be there.

Sorry if I didn't answer you correctly.
God Bless
Sis. Patricia

I know them quite well. It is a nice place for people with no opinions or personal convictions but they require you to believe JUST the way they believe of they teach you have not recieved as much light as they have. They think they are on a different spiritual level than most of us. So sad because they have so many nice things and I love simple living. Yes they do have electric and other modern things along with the simple. It is hard to understand some of the things they teach. They wanted us to become a part of their community but we declined as they feel different toward some things than they do but they are good moral folks just a bit cultish.

Te state of Alagoas is the poorest state of Brazil and usually very d

PTL Sis. Renee,
I too am kind of new to this site. ;) I am from raleigh nc. Amen! Who is your pastor? Mine is pastor wayne huntley and brian ballestero.

Nikki,
I too am from NC!! I'm from the Raleigh church!! GOD BLESS YOU!! :D
