Praise the beautiful name of Jesus Christ my brothers, sisters and friends!

I am currently working on putting together a monthly Saturday night youth service starting mid september... and am looking for y'alls input into relevant songs that are particularly popular with youth.
Quite honestly a large number of the young ppl in attendance for the first service or two, have never been in a real church and have no real interest in doinng so, however are going to be there because they want to be there the first time that I preach a message...
My goal is to hit them where they live... with a great church experience... something they can somewhat relate to... somehting they are not expecting...
Understanding all of that... I'm trying to build a song list that will help us help these 'never been churched' open thier hearts to the message at hand, to have a great first impression of bible truths.

What songs do you use in your youth ministry???

i appreciate your time and thnk you in advance for any and all input!

Love ya and may the Lord richly bless you an keep you!

You can go to www.praisecharts.com (http://www.praisecharts.com) and they have a list of the top contemporary Christian songs. You can also find a list at www.ccli.com (http://www.ccli.com) but the Praise Charts list is more contemporary in nature which will likely appeal more to young people and unchurched people. Both of these sites are aimed at music ministers findings songs for church use. If you have an iPod, you can use your iTunes accounts to find the top rated/most downloaded songs. You can also do a similar things going through Amazon.com. Just select "Search: MP3 Downloads" and select "Christian & Gospel" from the list of genres. You can then listen to samples of each song.

Hillsong has a lot of music that seems to be well received by most - perhaps not everyone over 40's taste but it's not too "hard core".

You can also check out the service archives at www.ThePentecostals.org (http://www.ThePentecostals.org). Their youth group is "Rush" and they have some of those services archived online. They sing pretty contemporary songs for their regular services as well which may work just as well for you. They have a good selection of services to view. Also looking at the songs they sing at Because of the Times will give you some title. (CDs available at whitesteeple.com - you should be able to get the titles from there.)

Bro. Kevin Howard or Bro. Johnathon Dean from POA may also respond to an e-mail with this question.

You should also work with your musicians if you're not going to use recorded songs. Some songs sound great but some might be difficult for them or may not translate well in a sing-along situation.

Hope this help. Please feel free to PM me if you'd like.
