I recieved this in an email from a Pastor In Texas:

*********************************************

Last Sunday, members of the Iraqi army ambushed the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss, Texas. Edgar Hernandez survived the attack and has now become a POW.

Bro. Edgar attends the Chaparral Apostolic Church, near Fort Bliss. I spoke with his Pastor, Bro.Alex Uribe, and told him that I would send a special prayer request to the e-light family to pray for the safety of this Apostolic Christian young man. They have been "praying without ceasing" at the Chaparral Apostolic Church.

Below is the website links that profile Edgar:

In these most perilous of times, we can find strength in God's love and protection for His children. We can find words of courage and comfort in the following verses: Ps 27:3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. NIV

David had faith in God's protection power, when he said in Psalms 41:2,"The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."

Feel free to 'forward' this prayer request to anyone that you feel would be willing to lift Edgar up in prayer.

Let's bind together, as the Family of God, and pray for Edgar and his family, that the peace and Spirit of God would sustain then until Edgar's return.

Why is there such a strong belief that he will return from Iraq soon and very soon? "Because greater is He that lives in Edgar Hernandez, than "he" that will soon no longer rule Baghdad"

I will also be praying for him. When you pray for him, remember
Johnathan Camarillo, a precious brother out of Life Tabernacle, here in Houston. He is in a battle in central Iraq, presently. Brother and Sister Camarillo is very concerned.

Profile of Brother Hernandez from CNN:

Edgar Hernandez, just months from concluding his military career, steered his younger brother away from serving Uncle Sam.

"The main reason he didn't want me to go join the military is in case we go to war," 18-year-old Joel Hernandez told the Brownsville Herald.

Sunday, the danger Edgar Hernandez hoped to shield his brother from befell him when Iraqis ambushed the 507th Maintenance Company from Fort Bliss, Texas, and Hernandez became one of 12 from the group to be captured, killed or determined missing.

Hernandez, 21, joined the military after high school three years ago and was serving as a supply truck driver, according to the Arizona Daily Star's Web site.

Edgar Hernandez, who appeared bruised and battered in the video of him after his capture, had a few months left in the service and "was looking forward to coming home and making his career."

Relatives said he hoped to leave military service, settle in El Paso, Texas, secure a job with the border patrol and get married, according to the Brownsville Herald's Web site.

Joel described his brother to the Herald as a person who never started a fight, but stood ready to defend a friend. His reputation among family members was as a clumsy guy with an infectious sense of humor who enjoyed jogging and playing basketball with his friends.

Joel told the Herald that in a recent letter to the family, Edgar requested prayer and said he was eager to come home to work on his 1979 Camaro.

The family's pastor in Alton, Texas, recounted the soldier's unwavering belief in God to reporters from the El Paso Times. Friends and relatives said Hernandez is likely offering religious comfort to other prisoners, the newspaper's Web site stated.

At Fort Bliss, Edgar Hernandez joined the Chaparral Apostolic Church, and befriended the pastor's daughter Diana Uribe, the El Paso Times reported.

"He's like a big, loving teddy bear who is always thinking about others, not himself," Uribe, 19, told the newspaper. "I know him, and I'm sure he's in constant prayer."

Maria de la Luz Hernandez said she accepted her son's decision to join the military, but she did not support it. "He's a very noble man," she told the El Paso Times. 'When he first told me he wanted to join the Army, I was against it. But I knew that's what he wanted. He wanted to serve his country."

I'm not trying to cast any kind of shadow on this or lessen its impact, but shouldn't we be praying for all of them over there, including the innocent civilians getting caught up in this whole mess?

This falls under this category:

(Galatians 6:10) As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.

I am sure we are praying for all those over there, but my prayer is more that they find God, not that a bomb misses.

Perhaps God has this brother in this place at this time for a reason. Who knows, perhaps one of those captors who beat him is another phillipian jailor, and key to revival amonst his people.

That is more where my prayer leans, yeah the generic prayer for saftey is there too, but specifically....

my brother-in-law, Matt Tompkins is in iraq with the 101st Army inf. and the guy that rolled the grenades in the tents was a guy that my brother-in-law had invited to church.

But yes, pray for all of them. A guy from our church named Dan is in the navy on the USS Ponce by Iraq.
