Searching Needs Prayer

Searching is being admitted today (probably right this minute) for an LP and to be evaluated by a neurosurgeon. Her condition, PTC, has worsened the last few months and the pain has reached unbearable levels.

Please pray that God will guide the doctors to proceed with the shunt surgery that is needed to relieve the pressure and pain.

Updates on her evaluation and condition will be posted here whenever possible.

I spoke with Searching a few minutes ago. She believes they are preparing to do the LP about 4pm. The neurosurgeon is also supposed to discuss shunt options with her. Shes hoping this will all be over soon.

No, she doesn't go to church with me unless one of us is visiting the other. ;)
But shes a very dear friend of mine. When she has surgery, I plan on being with her. Another GNC member, ApostolicLady, who does go to church with her, has been with her today.

I called to check on Searching and spoke with ApostolicLady who is still with her at this time.

They tried the LP and failed. For those that might not know, an LP is a spinal tap. The experience has been traumatic. To make matters worse, they will have to try another one tomorrow.

We are a family here on the GNC and even if we haven't meet like Burning said we can still pray for each other and lift each other up. Thanks for keeping us posted on Searching procedures and how she's getting along. I work for an Eye doctor and know that these things are dangerous.

Late update...

I had church this evening and then went out with a van load of young people. Just now got home and wanted to make a quick update on Searching.

The neurosurgeon himself tried the LP again after my previous post and this time they were successful. They drained off quite a bit of fluid. She was asleep the last time I called to check on her. Sedated for the night.

The shunt surgery is definitely going to be done the question is when. They are talking about sending her home and then scheduling surgery later according to the neurosurgeon's schedule.

Please pray that they will do the surgery this week. Searching has been miserable for a long time and LP's (traumatic in themselves) are only partial temporary relief. Also, the hospital is two hours away from her home. Running back and forth is a burden in itself. She also has two kids that need her. Its time for this to be over and done with.

Keep encouraging her that God is the healer and is able to take her through this and that He is in control of everything. He allows these things for a reason. I spoke to Searching this morning and she is doing ok. Her back is very sore from the LPs and the headache is still present although not quite as bad at present. She was in pretty good spirits but is adamant about this surgery needing to be done asap. I told her there were alot of people praying for her. Later today she'll be talking with the neurosurgeon to see when they can do the surgery.

I spoke with Searching earlier this afternoon and the news is not good. Once again, it appears shes gonna get the run around regarding the surgery. Shes been through this more than once, each time LPs are done, each time meds are given and surgery discussed. And each time she is sent home for some lame reason without the surgery. This condition is disrupting her life completely. Shes really down again.

Searching left one hospital last night and went straight to another one that is closer to home. The reason she left the one is because they weren't taking care of her. They weren't giving her the pain meds she needed and they were going to discharge her today anyway. So she left and went to a hospital where her regular doctor is and where she knew she would be taken care of properly. They have been giving her pain meds and they've been helping some, which is better than nothing. She hopes to go home tomorrow. Shes also supposed to contact a neurosurgeon regarding the surgery she needs. Please continue to pray that they will proceed with the surgery. The LPs only bring temporary relief within a few days afterward but then the pressure begins to build again and Searching goes through the whole process again.

TBH, I am ANGRY that she keeps getting the run around....

But I am BELIEVING that God will take care of this situation....

Well Searching is STILL in the hospital but shes been moved to a regular room now. She is feeling some better and hopes to go home with each new day.

She has an appt. with a neurosurgeon on monday. Please continue to pray and believe that THIS IS IT and the surgery gets scheduled asap.

I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. I am home at the moment and as LR already said, I'll be seeing the neurosurgeon on Monday to discuss surgery. I am also in the process of moving so life is a bit hectic at the moment! The scariest part is knowing that I'll have no hair on my head for a while, so I'm going hat shopping next week....LOL!

I am in bad need of prayers tonight. I'm in a lot of pain now that all the drugs have wore off and may be headed to the ER tonight if it doesn't subside. I am updating those who want to know how I am doing. I saw the neurosurgeon in St. Louis on Monday. He basically denied that I even have PTC, although I have never been told that by any other docs I have seen, and I've also done my own research on this illness and I'm also convinced that I have PTC. He stated that he would look at my past medical history but if he didn't see anything convincing, he wouldn't do the surgery.

I met a woman through the PTC support website who lives in Chicago. She was just diagnosed in December and already had surgery. According to what she told me, her symptoms were not as severe as mine have been, and she referred me to her neurosurgeon and I have an appointment with him on Feb. 26th in Chicago.

For those of you who suffer from chronic pain, I can totally understand why someone would take their own life rather than suffer constantly. I was frustrated yesterday after the disappointment and I think I scared a couple friends with things I said, but this is a big struggle for me. It's a bigger struggle to continue having faith in God that He knows what is best for me, and to not ask Him why I'm going through this.

I thank you all for your prayers, and I'm glad I have brothers and sisters I have never met and probably never will who care for me and pray for me. You have no idea how much that means to me.

I am having my surgery on Friday, March 12th, in Chicago. I will have a shunt implanted in my head that drains CSF to my tummy. This will alleviate the intercranial pressure in my head caused from an overproduction of spinal fluid. This will be a permanent thing, and the last resort since the spinal taps and medications have failed. God has never failed me though, and I know He has His hand on me and on the surgeon.
