Judgement is the door of hope
Brother Kenneth Bow of Sumner, WA
preached a message in Landmark Apostolic
in Fla in 1999, on the book of Hosea.
The message, Let's Get Married, is on
their website, www.landmarkapostolic.com
I got a lot out of this message. One thing I
did not understand was where he quoted the
passage that says God would give Israel the
Valley of Achor for a door of hope.
The Valley of Achor was where Achan took
the wedge of gold and the Babylonian garment.
He was stoned in judgement. Brother Bow says
that God was taking Israel back to a place where
she knew she was guilty.
This opened up to me this morning. I could not see
at the time how judgment could be a door of hope.
Then this morning I was thinking of the judgment of the
cross.
At the cross, we are brought to a place of judgment,
where we know we are naked before God, just as Adam
and his wife knew they were naked. But God took away
their covering which was not sufficient, and gave them
His covering, coats of skin. At the cross, we are found
guilty. But the cross is also the door of hope. If we receive the covering that Christ offers us, the blood of His sacrifice, then we are found clothed.
If we do not turn away from the judgment seat of Jesus,
which is also the seat of mercy, we receive hope of
everlasting life.
