I recently read some great articles concerning the love/respect cycle, and basically it goes something like this:
God's commandment to men were to love their wives[unconditionally].
God's commandment to women were to reverence[respect] their husbands.
When men treat their wives in an unloving fashion they are met with disrespect.
When women treat their husbands with disrespect they are met with unloving treatment.
Someone has to break the cycle.
A husband's unconditional love is VITAL to commanding (I didn't say DEmanding) respect from his wife. A woman's respect for her husband is VITAL to allowing him free expression of love.
