This song was running through my head, Give Me Oil In My Lamp Keep Me Burning... So it got me to think how this also represents a christians Life.
I have seen a replica of a ancient Oil Lamp..It was made of clay...
Clay: Us
Oil: The annointing of God
The Flame: The Holy Ghost
Just some thoughts :)

The neat thing about the lamps the virgins held Bro.Dane is that historically they are said to be torchs filled with rags that need to be changed or taken out and replaced with more that have been soaked in oil.To me that suggests that the virgins knew beforehand that the lamps would need trimming. The five foolish neglected their duties or work. They just flitted along and expected someone else to supply their needs when the time came. But the wise were wise indeed and prepared knowing they would need extra should the bridegroom tarry.lv sis.c

Deleted years ago. Still have it around here somewhere. May repost the old cafe at some point. It is archived off on a DVD or CD somewhere and I am not real good at labeling things.....
I'm confused. Why are y'all resurrecting this thread if the link is no longer active?

Matthew 25:1 in the Syriac says, "Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to greet the bridegroom and the bride."
Why do we so often equate these 10 bridesmaids or attendants with the bride? There would only be one bride ---not 10. Do we think the Bridegroom is coming for his 10 wives but only 5 of his wives actually make it so He only marries 5 of them?

Because, like with a lot of things Jesus said, THE POINT of "Stay ready because you don't know when I am coming" is just too simple for us to get a grip on. We have to look for hidden meanings where there aren't any.
