I love to do crafts. I also knit, sew, crochet, embroider, have refinished furniture, and draw. I'm not an expert in any one area but I love to dabble.

I would love to learn to one-stroke paint. When babysitting, I've looked at the educational channel and they have a Donna Dewberry show one day a week. I've taped some of her classes from TV. I would love to take a class at Michael's or JoAnne Fabric. She makes everything look so easy...... *SIGH*

So, what kinds of hobbies does everyone have? Or what else do you do for relaxation?

I've never learned to knit - can crochet lovely chains, but have yet to find much use for them.

I do sew -- I used to sew professionally for customers. I loved doing it for some, the ones who won't accept any advice and insist they know more than you do ruined it for me though. Now I rarely make custom clothing. I do some window treatments, but that's stressful as well. I'm don't handle it well if people don't absolutely LOVE what I've done for them.

My "dream" is to have a website one day and sell "couture" quality, one-of-a-hind clothing that Holy Ghost women (and their children) can afford. If I can just get this move past me! Of course then it would be a JOB and not a hobby.

My "obsession" -- my husband says I can't honestly call it a hobby -- is scrapbooking. I've been doing that for about 7 years now and love it. Again -- all this moving is cramping my style.

If you go to www.dmarie.com/layouts (http://www.dmarie.com/layouts) and type in Pam H. in the Search by Artist area you can see a small album I made for my Dad a few years ago. He carried it with him everywhere -- to the bank, to chemo, -- showed it to everyone who would stand still. LOL

I also love to scrapbook! I'd like to get into more crafty things, but we're in the process of building a house, so I'll be out of the cramped apartment and able to flex my creative muscle a bit.

Nana, as far as knitting goes, my sister used to have the same problem. She could crochet chains, but couldn't figure out how to turn them. Sooo, she made some red and green ones and we used them on our Christmas tree (oops, forgot that's a no-no around here). Anyway, if you have a Christmas tree, there pretty funky-looking as garland.

It's only a no-no to some.

I was never really into knitting and crotcheting. I learned some beginner steps when I was a young teen but I don't really remember them. My interests are more in the music area.

Oh Nana, I know what you mean....scrapbooking was/is my obsession but I've been too busy the last 2 years to do anything with it. I'm really looking forward to summer but I have a list of things I want to get done. I don't know if I'll be able to accomplish it all.

That reminds me of the time my friend taught her daughter to make chains. The first step in teaching her how to crochet. The girl made about ten, 6-7" chains and took them to church and tried to sell them! LOL :yeah:

I use scrapbooking materials and stamping materials to make Christmas cards. I draw them, but I use the edgers, the corner-shapers, borders, chalks, stamping inks, papers, etc. to make the cards. I draw them, but embellish them with other things. One year I just sent out plain ones-- just drawings and a message inside-- because I didn't have time. People seem to like them.

Scrapbooking looks like fun, but I wouldn't know what to do with all my creations. I don't have that many pictures.

My mother taught me how to crochet when I was nine. I crochet afghans, baby blankets, baby booties, dishclothes, stuff like that. I would love to teach my kids but all they know is chains at this time.

Me...

Hi there, I know you probly did not know :) There is another thread that was started a while ago on hobbies and things. This is one of the threads "Crafty Things". I am sure there is another one too but can't remember what the title of it was.

I really enjoy scrape booking. I am a beginner though. Ya know, I bought a few things for scrapebooking last November and I still haven't opened it to do anything!!!! Time has sped on so fast. Maybe this term I will get something done. I think it is because I spend some of my spare time fellowshipping on here. It takes a lot of time to read the posts and time seems to slip by real quick. I have now started timing myself for a limited time when I get on here and when that buzzer goes it takes all the fruit of the spirit to get me off, but off I do go, and get 'other' things done.:)

I also dabble in a lot of things when time permits. I am going to start going to Folk Art lessons as from next monday. I am really looking forward to it. I think when you go to classes you are more likely to get the projects you start, finished:)
