View Full Version : The Anti-Christ or Man of Sin by J.A. Urshan

In a recent conversation with my brother, he reminded me about a taped message by Rev. J.A. Urshan about a man his father met. Perhaps you've heard this message before, and wish to comment on it. I pulled it out and listened to it again.
Basics -
His father was the interpreter for 2 other men (of some renown) who gained audience of a certain reclusive Prince who lived in a palace near the border of Syria and Iraq.
Bro J.A. Urshan traced his lineage using the Bible and man's geneological records all the way back to Abraham.
The palace was guarded for 20 miles out.
The prince (who he does not name) exhibited extraordinary and supernatural powers, such as changing his features from one of hatred to loving condolescence (so much so that the two men began to drop to their knees before him, until Bro Urshan stopped them), calling down fire to consume a bird, and raising a dead man who screamed for 15 minutes 'master, please don't send me back to that horrible place!' and dropped dead again.
Throughout the 2 nights they spent there, the 3 men huddled together speaking the Name of Jesus, as they were in constant spiritual battle against demonic forces.
Just wondering what ya'll thought about it, if you'd heard it.
With all that is going on in Iraq and Syria, it is even MORE interesting!!! Somebody has to know about this man, and I sure would like to know his name!

Blest, I listened to the tape that your post above was derived from in 1987. My pastor af the time, told me, when I told him of it, quite gruffly, "don't believe every thing you hear". He also illustrated things I won't go into yet.
I will respond in detail, but before i do, I would like to know that my response won't offend...

As long as your response is not a personal attack on me........

I want the truth.

Well, I wouldn't dare attack you, but in my estimation the words on that tape were a complete and total fabrication.
I would not want to be found accusing Bro JA Urshan of, umm ..well lying. But, much end-time prophecy teaching plays on superstition and emotionalism, and the love of the urban legend that exists within each of us. It gets a response. That particular tape was already several years old when I heard it in 1987. This "prince" is described in the tape as the "false prophet" waiting for the beast to come around. If the beast doesn't hurry up the poor ole' false prophet is going to die of old age, or a smart bomb, courtesy of the US Air Force.
Remember the stupid book, 1987 Reasons Why the Lord Is Returning in 1987? Somebody missed it. Sold thousands of booklets though.
Hal Lindsay originally had the Great Tribulation happening in 1984, scared me half to death when I read "Late Great Planet Earth" when I was about 12. Definaltely a book to keep out of the hands of kids.
My advice to all is that when anyone has something to say about the end-time, take it with a HUGE grain of salt.
While I am not partial preterist, I lean farther that way than I do to the futurism side.
There is one popular Bro in our ranks whose name I won't mention because someone here will probably get mad at me if I do, who has made a fortune, has a big ministry and radio programs all over and an end time magazine making all these predictions.
Never once does he mention in his magazine or radio show what it takes to be saved. Not once. Lose money and listeners and subscribers if he did that. According to him we will be at war with china in a few months...he ran a big ole' ad in USA Today to tell us.
yeah right. just like Gorby was the antichrist about 15 years ago, and the jews were buying up red heifers left and right because the Temple was gonna be rebuilt ANYTIME (1990) (so saith the same guy). He is always careful to leave himself an "out" with words like maybe and possibly.
I for one have no regard whatsoever for that type of teaching.
The solid and sure Gospel of Jesus Christ That saves people is preached in the power and demonstration of the Spirit. , Not with theatrics and end time speculation. All that does is entertain people with foolisness.
It gets people looking for something someday without realizing that the spirit of AntiChrist is in the world already. The beast is your neighboor who hasn't found the Lord yet. Everyone except the precious few, the redeemed, are already marked. By sin. No need to wait for a tattoo or microchip implant. All that is required to take most folks to hell is in place. And only ONE THING can get rid of it. That ONE THING is the only thing we have any business preaching.
Sister, the best thing your friend could do with that silly tape is erase it and put something worthwile on it.
I was thankful in 1987 for a man of God who said "That is hogwash, don't believe everything you hear" when I listened to that tape. I waas just a new convert then and didn't know what that ole' JA was telling the truth. Glad I had a Pastor that pointed me in the right direction.
The prime example of what we should say on this is exactly what Jesus said:
Acts 1:7-8
(7) And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
(8) But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
We have the power to be witnesses, that power is not only in word but in lifestyle and deed and that we have love one for another.
End Time speculative interpret the newspaper preaching? Foolishness.
Hey, I just found that booklet yesterday (88 reasons why).........And I thought I had been left behind!!!

But if anyone wants to know what to teach to make money and get popular...there you have it. Preach Jesus Name Holy Ghost Holiness or hell and nobody even wants to be seen near you. That fact alone tells me that we gots the real thing.
Anyone remember Jimmy Swaggerts noon-time TV program back int the 80's on the same stuff?

Thank you Bro. Atkinson for your response. I just wonder then, if what you say is true, what about the other tapes by Rev. J.A. Urshan? IF this is a fabrication, what about the other messages?
There was another one, by one of the Urshans, and I don't remember who it was now, about riding on an airplane seated next to the Secretary of the European Common Market. Did you ever hear that one? Is that also untrue???
Since coming to this board, I've read a number of differing opinions about end-times, and really don't know what to think anymore. It was the end-times messages that first brought me into the blessed truth, and I want to be very careful that what I tell others is accurate.
On all of our UPC product codes you can easily identify the three 6's (666) at the front, middle and end of the UPC as the two thin lines together. This was pointed out as showing us how we are getting closer to the rule of the Anti-Christ and using his 666 number. ???
Is there coming a time when we will have to be coded on the hand or forehead for all transactions?? It makes perfect sense to do it that way......no one else can steal your identity or money, the government will always know where everyone is geographically, (homeland security??). This system is being used on animals (a computer reads the chip in a cows ear and dispenses the exact amount of feed necessary for that particular cow) and even some children have chips so parents can track them if they are kidnapped.
My brother also handed me the "88 Reasons Why the Rapture Will Take Place in 1988" booklet. A number of people came to the truth after reading it. We just have to be ready all the time.

Bar codes do not have 666 in them. The first, middle and last bars do not represent 6's. They may look that way, but if you carefully scrutinize them you will notice a slight space before each reference mark. This is done so the laser can begin the scan at the correct place. It actually represents a carriage return in binary code. It does NOT represent the number 6. Anyone that believes anything different is seriously mislead.
I work part-time at Ace Hardware. I deal with bar-codes all the time. The laser scanner is adjusted once a week to a reference code. The reference code clearly shows the three marks that must be aligned. Those marks are not 6's!

His Name is Jesus1
This is ALL the world really needs to hear: the GOSPEL.
("...preach the Gospel to all the world; he that believes AND is baptized shall be saved...")
Shame on anyone if they preach anything more than this for salvation.

I don't know about the rest of the tapes, haven't listened to them and won't.
How can the truth be furthered by a lie? While many people may have prayed after reading that book (88), how many of them stuck around after Sept 19 or whatever the day was came and went.
Bro Hnovilla is right. The Gospel is our only message. If people came to God after getting their wits frightened out of them, and finally found the love of God that keeps us, I am happy.
But the fearful spirit these endtime fables bring to the surface is not of God. We should serve God because we love Him, and that we are secure in the knowledge that he loves us. Not because soem preacher spouts out garbage gleaned from privately interpreting the newspaper.
There is no keeping power in fear. These prophetic interpretations that we are cursed with are a grave danger to people. We have no guarauntee that the end of things will be in the next ten years, or 20, or 30 or 500 or 1000, or 3000, or 5000.
None. yet my entire walk with God I have heard, many times that we would be outta here by y2k. The futurist beast-in-the-machine doctrine is rapidly running out of time.
We know that the Lord is returning for his Church, but we don't know the time. We should always be ready.
But that being ready doesn't mean trying to figure out if bar codes or microchips is the mark of the beast. We were marked by sin. God set us free from that mark.
And everyone else on earth is likewise marked, in thier forehead, the seat of conciousness, and in thier right hand, symbolic of thier power. Their conciousness and power are given to sin. They bear the mark.
The Gospel message preached to sinners, brings focus on that. Telling them anything else distracts from that.
If I put my confidence in predictions made by endtime preachers, I would have lost faith and backslid long ago. Because it is nothing short of an absolute prevarication to get on radio, or in a pulpit, or in an article and tell people that the AntiChrist will be in power by 1984 or 1991 or 1995 or 2005.
Look around, the antichrist spirit is already in power. Go stand on a street corner and begin to speak the word of the Lord, you will find out that fact real quick.
I had a close friend who got addicted to end time baxterish teaching. Bought and read every book, started looking for demons and devils and new agers and pagans behind every rock and every tree. HE was obsessed with it.
Where is he today? Hasn't been in church in years, been in and out of institutions and takes medication so he can exist in civilized society.
There is no power in the bad science fiction and fantasy that masquerades as doctrine. Stay with the POWER!!!
My more serious self would say:
AMEN!! Brother John!

It was the end-times messages that first brought me into the blessed truth, and I want to be very careful that what I tell others is accurate.
The most accurate message would be to just stick to the Gospel that you know. When the "What about [INSERT QUESTION HERE]? comes up? Stick to the Gospel you know.
Example:
What about the thief on the cross?
Answer: What about the thief in your clothes?
Example 2:
Do you think they will rebuild the Temple in 2 years?
Answer:
If you die lost tomorrow what difference will it make?
Feel free to use more tact than I typically do :sb:
Thanks Bro Xerf, we appreciate both your selves :D

The great tragedy of the end-time story tellers is that they are actually helping fulfill prophecy amongst church people. Consider this:
2 Peter 3:3-4
(3) Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
(4) And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
When someone hears someone else they look up to as a man of God say, "Oh, we shall see the return of the LOrd by [insert date here] and then it doesn't happen. and they lose confidence, and they backslide and become scoffers. So who helped them in their journey to "scofferhood"?
He IS coming. Someday he will come and wrap all things up and the earth will be consumed with a fervent heat. Between now and then some if not all of us are going to die. For them, for all practical purposes, he has come.
Now if you will excuse me, I simply must get back to the book I am writing to help Apostolics build quality church web presences.

I heard the tapes, after which this thread has been entitled, about the alleged "forerunner of the superman who shall take over the world", in the late 70's! I think its all sensationalistic fabrication, myself.
Brother John, don't forget that I was to write a chapter in that book of yourn........you know the chapter called, "Xcerpts for Xperts by Xerf"
