The REAL WMD

If we remember anything of 2003, we’ll remember these words, Weapons of Mass Destruction.

This question came to my mind while doing one of my many enjoyable household tasks (dish sanitizing). What is the REAL weapon of mass destruction?

“Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”

You will find this expose on the tongue in the Bible. (James 3v3-10 KJV) We’re all guilty of it. How often do we find ourselves disguising a prayer request as a chance to gossip? How often do we listen to and devour phony bologna? Ever hear of the phrase, ‘Curiosity killed the cat?”

Someday we will all stand before the Lord and account for all the things we have said and done.

Acts 3:19 KJV Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.

The tongue can be a weapon of mass destruction. Just as there is a detonator for ‘WMDS’, thankfully there is also a neutralizer.

Acts 2:4 KJV “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Entire nations have been known to fall at the power of just a few words. Cultures and societies are constantly shaping and reshaping themselves, innocent souls are emotionally crushed, and lives are altered and destroyed, all through the power of words. A nuclear atomic bomb may destroy a city, but,

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18v21 KJV

Remember the phrase we are what we eat? Well, there’s nothing worse than eating your own words.

The Holy Ghost enables us with power to tame our tongues. He enables us with the power to praise Him, and use our words for edifying one another. Words to lift the fallen, words to encourage the broken hearted, and words that heal the sick. The Holy Ghost enables us to lift our Savior with words of praise and adoration!:yeah:

Boy, you hit some really important points there. Funny -- at the same time you were posting that, my husband and I were at lunch discussing this very thing over fajitas!

How Christians, yes, even Apostolics, are so quick to believe the worst in everyone -- even their brothers and sisters in the Lord -- AND pretty snappy to share their opinions.

Shame on us all.
