Being God's Servant - A few thougths
"If anyone serves Me,let him follow Me;and where I am,there my servant will be also.If anyone serves Me,him My Father will honor."
John 12:26
Being God's Servant
To be in God's work,you must be a servant.He came as a servant to acccomplish God's will in the redemption of humanity.Paul described Jesus' servant attitude and commended it to us:
"let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,who,being in the form of God,did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,but made Himself of no reputation,taking the form of a bondservant,and coming in the likeness of men.And being found in appearance as a man,He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death,even the death of the cross.
Philippians 2:5-8
We are to develop the servant attitude of Christ which calls for humility and obedience.In His instructions to His disciples about servanthood,Jesus decsribed His own role of service:
" and whosoever would be first among you shall be your servant: even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:27-28
My understanding of a servant
It is more like that of a potter and its clay.Jeremiah 18:1-6
A servant of God's has to be and do 2 things:(1).be moldable and (2).remain available for the Master' s(Potters)use.Then the Master can use that instrument as He chooses.The servant can do nothing of kingdom value as He chooses.With God working through His servant he can do anything God can do. One must obey and one must remember who is accomplishing the work-Jesus is and Jesus is God.
As we receive The Lord Unto our hearts and our lives,get baptized in Jesus name , and filled with the Holy Ghost we not only are forgiven of our sins, but we are free from sin. We have the opportunity to reach out to others and be a mighty witness unto them for the glory of god, so they too can receive him and know the true meaning of love. We are called to go forth in his name and spread the word, plant the seed on solid ground, to nuture, to love, to witness. We believe all of gods promises he has spoken to us and for us. We believe that through our faith and trust in god, that all things are possible and that god hears our every prayer, our thoughts, and that he answers when we call out to him.
REACHING OUT:
We as his beloved children are required to reach out with love to our brothers and sisters in christ ,also to His lost children who may need guidance ,care ,a friend or a helping hand.. Therefore we must also remember when we witness for God, that we as His Children need to take the time to help others grow, to always be there for them, to be able to answer their questions, to fellowship with them, and to love them as The Lord does.
HIS WORD IS TO LIVE BY:
We as God's Servants, should always Pray for others, Feel compassion, Forgive as The Lord Has Forgiven, Be Patient, Be understanding ,Be Truthful at all times, Seek fellowship, Read the Bible Daily, Live by His Word And Thank The Lord every day. We should Always Praise The Lord for without Him we are Nothing, and With Him We have Everything.
GIVING:
We should always Give of Ourselves when we meet or hear of someone in Need. Invite someone to share a meal with you when they are hungry, share your food, your clothing, your home and share The Love Of God. Even when we are going through many trials, sickness, pain and suffering we should always remember there are so many of God's Children who are indeed in Greater Need than we are. We should never Grumble nor Complain for God"s Word teaches us to accept who we are, and what we have, and to be content in this.
These are just a few thoughts I have on what a being God's Servant means It Is my desire to be a servant of God , serving Jesus and serving others. Being a servant of God carries with it a great responsibiliy and committment along with faithfulness .
May our Lord Jesus help each one of us to be a servant of God and what greater example can we have but to follow Jesus .
