I wanted to share this.In doing some research I have looked into the biblical holidays that the Jewish people were commanded to keep. There is so much to learn by studying the whys, whens, how and the fullfillment of these. This year my girls and I decided to have sort of a mini celebration of them and learn about the fulfillment of Jesus in them.We did a few that were just memorials.Such as Channakah etc.But we know Jesus celebrated this holiday as he was on the porch:

John 10:22-23
22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
(KJV)

And he fullifilled Jewish law as he was raised a Jew.
Some feel that we are commanded to still celebrate these. Some feel they are not all fullfilled.I personally think they are worth studying and discussing.

The girls love Chanakah as we gave each other little gifts and ate chocolate gold coins. We lit candles and read the biblical passages about Jesus being the true light of the world. As this is the feast of dedication. So we rededicated our bodies as temples of God.It was really fun and the girls learned alot.In fact they were begging to hurry up so we could talk about it each evening at sundown. My husband called me at work because the youngest was crying that on one of the nights I had to work and she wanted to do Chanakah and he did not know how I was doing it all.She really wanted to play games I think.
The next thing we did was talk about Esther and purim. But i will have to say this was not to much to do.
The next thing we discussed was Passover.Since we have communion at church at this time we studied it there.

Sis c,
I think this is a great idea. We have thought about doing the same things with my grandchildren. I don't believe we are bound to any of these holidays today, but I don't think it hurts a thing to learn more about them. We can only benefit from learning all we can about everything in the Word of God. I would like to check that book out. Wonder if it is available at the library?

Tonight begins the biblical holiday of Shavuot (Lev. 23:15-21), which takes place 50 days after Pesach. Thus the Greek name, Pentecost (Acts 2:1-12). It is a harvest festival, also known as the Feast of Firstfruits when the wheat was brought to the Temple and waved before the Lord. It is not to be confused with the first Feast of Firstfruits during Passover week when barley is brought to the Temple and waved before the Lord. This is a festival of great joy, celebrating the blessings and provision of the Lord. This holiday also commemorates the giving of the Law to Moses on Mt. Sinai. The Law was seen as a blessing from God to teach the people how to live. Read Psalm 19:7-11. Pray that the people of Israel and the Jewish community worldwide will be able to celebrate this feast with great joy, gladness and peace. Pray for safety and freedom from any terror attacks. Pray that the hearts of the Jewish people will turn towards the Lord and move more closely to His Word. God is fulfilling a modern-day miracle and fulfillment of Bible prophecy as we see His plans unfolding for Israel today. Pray the enemies of Israel will not prevail and that they will prosper.
"Many peoples will come and say, 'Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord , to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways, so that we may walk in His paths.' The law will go out from Zion, the word of the Lord from Jerusalem" (Isaiah 2:3).
