Dear Brother & Sisters,

I am a bit new to some of these issues, please forgive me.
I am not trying to compare or criticize the doctrine of The
World Wide Church of God or The United Church of God, but
where in the NT are they coming up with modern day
christianity should still be celebrating GOD'S Holy Days?

My stepfather has givin me these scriptures from the NT and
tells me that these directly tie with OT'S Leviticus 23. He says
if you read these scriptures and go back to Leviticus 23 it is
clear that GOD still commands that we do it.

Matthew 25:34
Revelation 13:18
Galations 3:8
Genesis 26: 3-4
Genesis 18: 17-19
James 2:23
Romans 4:11

I am not sure but is the OT'S laws given by GOD referred to
in NT as this - "The Law" ??

Galatians 3:23 - 27 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

24: Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25: But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

26: For ye are all the children of GOD by faith in Christ Jesus

27: For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have
put on christ.

In 29 it reads: And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's
seed, and the heirs according to the promise.

My stepfather says Christians are true descendant's of
Abraham and GOD did command all of Abraham's generations
for ever celebrate his Holy Days.

Lev 23:41 And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven
days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your
generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month.

Understanding Please ?#!*

Sis Rodgers,
OK. Let me start by saying this. Though we are true Jews, and are heirs of Abraham, we are not under the Law. The Law was fulfilled at Calvary when Christ died, shedding His blood. Now, a lot of people desire to go and serve the Law, seeking to follow after feast days, new moons and physical sabbaths. However, we read this in Colossians 2:16, "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath [days]:" Now, they may choose to observe certain days as holy and festival days, but Paul said that we are not to be judged by the days we keep as holy, and the days we keep as not.
The festivals are under the Old Worship System, the Law. It has been fulfilled and abolished through Jesus Christ. In 70AD, the judgment came upon Jerusalem, destroying the Old Worship System completely in the physical. All those who choose to keep these OT festival days are as people who ledt Egypt, but then desired to do as the Egyptians did in their new land. It is not right for people to look for holy days to celebrate the goodness of Jesus, for everyday is holy unto the Lord.
I live by this one rule in life. It is Seize the day. Everyday is holy and shoudl be celebrated unto the Lord, not just festival days. Hope this answered your question.

Hi Sis.Rogers,
Probably what you can do is share some of the fullfillments with your stepfather.Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fullfill it.In being patient and doing so you may just have the angle it takes to help your stepfather find truth.Because it seems he is trying very hard to live a biblical lifestyle.Bear with him on the grey areas. It will not harm him to observe these things. It also will not save him either. As we know the only way is the Jesus Way.
But in light of this get on a search engine and study the fullfillment of biblical festivals. These were given to the Jews as types and patterns to be kept so that when the fullfillment came they would know messiah.God is good and many of the people who do these things are very sincere in their worship. You can work with a person like this.lv sis.c
