The feasts of Israel numbered 7. Three were two sets of three feasts with the feast of Pentecost (weeks) between them.
1.Feast of Passover.
2.Feast of Unleavened bread
3.Feast of Firstfruits
4.Feast of Pentecost.
5.Feast of Trumpets.
6.Feast of Atonement.
7.Feast of Tabernacles.
The first set is actually called by the overall name that is also the name of the first feast. PASSOVER. Corporately, the first three feasts of Passover, Unleavened bread and Firstfruits are called PASSOVER.
Then comes Pentecost.
And the last set of Three feasts is corporately called by the name of the Last Feast, Tabernacles.
This is significant, because it speaks a message of the work of Christ on the cross and how it applies ot us today.
Passover was when Christ died on the cross.
Unleavened bread occurred during Christ's burial.
The feast of Firstfruits occured when Jesus resurrected. He is the firstfruits of those who will resurrect.
Pentecost causes all of this to become part of our lives. He died as us, and so through Pentecost we can say we were crucified with Him, buried with Him and risen with Him.
The last three feasts actually show a parallel with the first three, with a picture of us included in the first three.
When Jesus died, was buried and arose again, He did that because we had to experience that in order to be saved from sin. We had to change "creations". Get out of Adam and into Christ.
So the first three feasts speak of Jesus’ three experiences, which basically represent the Gospel. And then Pentecost comes next and speaks of a person making His experiences their own experiences. We identify with Him and understand that God made it possible for us to be able to say we died and were buried and resurrected through Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.
Trumpets speak of revelations.
Isai 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people....
SHOWING somebody a revelation is like a trumpet sounding. After Pentecost we learn about what happened to us in being crucified, buried and risen with Him. If all we are interested in is fuzzy feelings at the altar services when we worship, then we're stuck at the feast of Pentecost and have not matured to learn about our co-experience with Jesus in death, burial and resurrection.
We feast on the REVEALED TRUTHS of the WORD at the feast of trumpets.
ATONEMENT is rooted in the terms at-one-ment. We are made ONE with Christ's death and are thereby freed from sin. Burial is the actual UNION aspect to His death.
TABERNACLES speaks of resurrection. We truly understand about how we are now HIS BODY. We are ingrafted into His body. And that is associated with THE BRIDE. When the Lord showed John the BRIDE in Revelation 21, he saw the "TABERNACLE OF GOD" WITH MEN... the church.
