View Full Version : Well, The Deed Is Done, What Do You Think?

Out with the Old, In with the New, The GNC is Dead, Long Live the GNC, The bathwater is gone, hopefully we kept the baby.

Kludgy old Discuss is Disabled, vBulletin is IN!

What does everyone think? It is OK to voice your opinion if you hate it. That won't make it change, but you can express yourself.

My prayer and hope is that this will be a blessing to you and to others who are yet to come. We have so much to offer to one another, I wanted us to have a better place to do that.

If you like it, please tell somebody about it! If you don't and wish the old one was still here, please understand that the move was necessary for us to be able to grow. And most importantly, please take the time to sweat the learning curve and stay with us!

If you have problems learning this there is a thread just for that. I will answer what questions I have time for, and others will as well!

Praise God for this great work that you have done bro John.
I feel much better now about telling others about the cafe.
It was good, but now it is better. I expect that we will see several thousand apostolic brothers and sisters come on board to enjoy it with us.
God bless

Well all in all, its a change for the better, but for some who are of the OLD SCHOOL, its gonna be an adjustment.
I DON'T KNOW MUCH, BUT I KNOW THAT I LOVE IT!

Yes, we all do have to get past this learning period, I myself am wondering, sure you have very good FAQ's but there are still other questions, such as :
Why where it says, "following is a list of available avatars", there are none? Or am I not doing something right?

Also, as nice as pic's may be, and this is just my silly opinion, I think pic's are a bit distracting, I kinda like using my imagination, not that I really imagined much with all the persons posting, i prefer to concentrate on the spirit posting the message,BUT, its sorta like when you read a book, and then see the movie based on it, the characters are nothing like what you had imagined, (if)? This is not something negative, just posting my impression, and thinking maybe others feel the same way? Or am I the only weirdo-DON'T ANSWER THAT part!

And I have questions regarding stuff like using colors, why does it say enter the text? all of it? how? feel free to email me with this info, or add to the FAQ's

BUT, it is also nice to be able to "see" the true pictures, and THE humanity attached to the posts, plus we can recognize each other on the streets perhaps. I myself am not sure that I will submit a pic, yet, perhaps some type symbol, logo (hey, there's an idea! can I use the AAFCJ logo along with perhaps a sneakpeak pic?) I am sometimes slow at change, even a bit resistant, but I'll get over it, and swing into things.
For the most part, this is GREAT CHANGE!

Praise Him All!!

JA,

Good Job!! Although I am not too much in to Barny but he is pretty cool I guess.

Now, why would I be getting a flash error each time I go to a new screen? Did not happen on the old.

Ive attached a pic so you can see exactly what I am talking about. Hopefully you can open it.

God Bless All!!

Yeah
Good work Bro. Atkinson!

This looks pretty great!

I admit, earlier in the week I was here, and it seemed to be locked.
I just this morning logged in, and figured it out.
LOL

Keep up the good work
Y'all will continue to be in my prayers

The only forum open to the general membership are the ones located in the open discussions. The ministers forum and ladies forum are viewable to the general membership, but posting is locked.

That was deliberate on my part. I all the avatar packs available are carnal.

I will try and find some good godly avatars which are with in the size requirements and put them up.

Rapture Ready has some pretty decent avatars and they use the same BB format essentialy as you do. You might want to try there.

I understand its your board and their are good reasons for Ministers Forums to be locked. To non Ministers But what about the Godhead/Salvation boards? What is the reasoning behind that?

When I do our avatars, they will be unique to us, I don't want what rapture ready has

The salvation forum requires moderator approval for posting. The reason is that this category is visible to the public. I don't allow debates in it as it is an outreach effort of the GNC staff.

Also because debating the Fundamental Doctrines of Acts 2:38 salvation and the oneness of God (ie trinity-oness debates) is forbidden on theis board.

Ok I was just offering a suggestion because earlier you said that you were looking at avatar packs.

Ok it is an outreach forum that is fine but 1) Where do you expect those already reached to post about this type topic? 2) How are those your trying to reach going to respond/ask questions?

Also why not have a special section set aside for debate of these issues? I know that you just got this board set-up, and I greatly appriciate it, but I think these are issues that you will need to address at some point.

Jonus

I love the new board and all the features. It's the little things like more color, lots more posting options, etc. that make this board both interesting and user-friendly.

I really love it.

Well! I'm not fussy on purple but all in all it doesn't seem too bad! At least I can manipulate my text and change things with relative ease.

I will be utterly honest. I have a precious 11 year old girl named Alia, she is a big help here. She comes home from school and helps us out in many ways, making coffee, burning cd's, vacuuming the church, monitoring paltalk.

Soon you will be introduced to the Apostolic Children's Network, which Alia will be the webmistress of.

The purple shade you see is her favorite color. I made it so to please my daughter. There you have it.

As for the vBulletin program, I frequent the Web Hosting Talk forums, they use this same program. They have just over 38,000 members and just under 1,000,000 posts.

Could discuss (the old cafe) handle that, or even 10% of that?

Not very well.

Standby for GROWTH!

PS: in the ACN, Apostolic Children's Network Purple will probably be a predominate color :p

Well, this wonderful softer shade of purple, the lavendar, was always #1 with me even as long ago as 10 yrs. I finally gave it up... but now its back to haunt me!!
Its not just for girls anymore!

The deeper shades are so royal-ish, fit for a "royal priesthood" IPETER 2:9, I feel so-o.. regal! But where are my deep velvet robes?
Ohyeah, over at that WallyMart spoken of in another post, right next to the girlyman skirts department! :D

I really like the color purple right now. My bathroom just got painted purple. The bathroom is several different shades of plum purple with chrome accessories. It is very pretty, PURPLE IS GOOD!!

Now my favorite color is a toss up between green and blue, love them both. :spin:

Bro. John,
I think you have done a wonderful job with the new board. It is really nice. I am a part of another board that uses this format, but this board is better. It is much more "mature" to me, I usually only go to the other one if I am bored. Which is not real often.
Thanks for making a great place for us to fellowship and be encouraged!

Since you asked, probably the one thing that "bugs" me about this new setup is that members no longer have the true, correct # of postings under their names, why do the ones in the archives not count anymore?
No more junior members, senior members designation, everyone is now starting over?
Sure, I guess one could always go all the way over to the archives to check this out, but its not fair., thats all, and this probably won't make the top ten faq's, but I think I have earned the right to say what I thinkwhether or not this merits any attention., still, maybe, just maybe, I'm not the only one with this opinion.
And as for the open forum discussions, good thing I didn't say anything about it, GOD has the last word on everything.
And I still don't have much success with the new formatting stuff, here, and I had just finally gotten better at it on the other format!
This typing looks so-o small now in the drafting area.

Thanks,
Sis Delia

Tuf,

Some times growth requires sacrifice. There was no upgrade mechanism to carry your post counts over. I don't have the luxury of ten hours to manually do it.

We want to grow, the old system wouldn't let us.

So we had to change.

No board system on the market supports upgrading from the old board.

The option of going back to the old is, well, not an option.

The current board is an industry standard, meaning everyone with a professional discussion forum uses it. That means it will alway be improved upon. The old board was never standard, or even all that popular. It is what we were stuck with when we took over the cafe.

I wanted to ditch the old board and move to this one from day one. I asked and out of respect for everyone who wanted to keep the old board, we merely bumped the revision level of the old board, and delayed the inevitable. At the time I didn't know enough about everyone to know if they would just leave if we sprang this big of a change on them.

When making this change I expect a couple to leave. I regret that, but accept that. As stated, Growth requires sacrifice sometimes.

We really hope you stay and endure learning something new. Post lots so your count goes up :D

Here is a link to a page with instructions on using the formatting codes: http://www.goodnewscafe.net/forum/misc.php?s=&action=bbcode

I am going to open up a special category in the announcements for testing the formatting, just for you

Once I get used to this site and find all the different things you can do and places you go, I will be coming here as often as I can. It is great, and can only get better. If this program reaches the lost then where else is there to go but onto our knees to pray for those lost souls.
Praise the Lord Brother Atkinson, it is a fine job the Lord has set you to do.

Burning.
