I love to read but I also sew,and occasionally crochet.
I am a constant bible studier and teach home bible study every chance I get.I also love the outdoors.I grew up on a horse farm.
We raised quarter horses and belonged to a riding club.At the age of twelve I was capable of teaching riding lessons and earned extra summer money doing this. But now I am a city girl so a horse is out of the question. But these are just a few of my interests as I have many.lv sis.c

Quarter Horses!!!Mmmm. Beautiful creatures I must say. I am sure when the Lord made the animals He put a special touch on the horses as there is something about them that is special. i am sure the cat lovers and the dog lovers can say the same thing!!:):):):)
I used to have a pony who I show jumped and did One Day Eventing on. He was a top pony and went even further after I sold him. Then I went onto horses and it wasn't the same. I loved riding but not one of my husbands loves or interests so it slowly faded out.
I love sewing and I do cross stitch and try other things crafty as well. When I have the time. And lately I haven't had that. I am very interested in learning sign language for the deaf and seem to pick it up really fast, they tell me.
I love studying my bible and doing home bible studies too. I have just come from doing one with a deaf friend and it was great seeing her understanding grow better. The bible study of my own is limited because of situations around my home but since I have come on to here (GNC), I use this as an excuse to do bible studies on here and when alone do small studies from these threads here.

I'm a professional student....that one of my favorite hobbies, taking classes. I love cooking, cooking, cooking. I love trying new recipes and I love cooking magazines like Taste of Home. I would really enjoy taking some Gourmet cooking classes. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies and I read like the wind. I love reading the bible and discussing it with a good friend of mine. Shopping, shopping, shopping. I also love EBAY!!! I buy and sell on Ebay. I'm not far from the beach....my favorite exercise is swimming. I'm also an animal lover, I have a yellow lab and a cat.....okay I guess that's enough hobbies.

Sis. Cooper, I love to sew too. I love to do crafts but I still don't know how to crochet. I can do hand embroidery and cross-stitch.

Another equestrian, here. Raised on a Ranch/Riding School/Summer Camp, horses have always been part of my life.

I've been riding since before birth (my mother rode horses into her 8th month, we have photos!!) Riding & showing in Hunter/Jumper classes and Dressage were my favorite.

I frequently thank God for horses in my life. They are truly magnificent creatures.

Hmmm...not sure if I should share in this regard. Are tom-boy types OK here?

Wonder where that term "tom-boy" came from?
This is wonderful! Kind of a "get to know each other" time.
Hehe! I can just picture the "Cafe" with a bunch of round "tables"(each thread being a table) and all of us sitting around a "table" talking and getting to know each other. Then someone will get up and go join another "table" and so on, til we have each joined the discussion at each table. :) :) Makes me happy and weepy at the same time.:o I do get silly sometimes.:D

One of my loves is writing skits and planning Sunday school lessons.(the sillyness helps a great deal here) I love to read, mostly historic novels and anything that will teach me something new. Desktop design is one of the things I enjoy most. Anything to do with computers. I was going to take some computer tech courses beginning next month, but that is out now. My greatest love is kids:), of all ages, especially preschoolers and teens. Give me a room full of kids and I am happy!!:) Instead of the computer courses, I am hoping to take some ECE courses. I have a dream of having a home for children or where I can bring in young mom's that need a loving boost, or maybe help young expecting girls. (I am a Doula) I love to teach and to learn. I love to create things, whether sewing or crafts or something on computer. And I love getting to know you all!!:D

My husband woulld be fast to tell you all that any horse, other than an Arabian, is inferior. :D

Personally, I am not a horse person. You might want to guess what kind of animal is my favorite. haha

I have 8 cats and 2 dogs. Besides, work, going to school part time (Animal Care Technology), and taking care of my family (including the 10 animals) I don't have much time for hobbies.

As some of you may have already guessed (Sis. Cooper probably has) I am a teacher-type. I am the one who tends to lead family bible studies -- even if hubby begins I usually take over -- he says I am better at it than he. And have recently been teased by hubby and son at my tendancy to be lengthy and go off topic to make a point that is on topic. LOL

A fellow kitty person....:) I have 15 cats, 2 dogs and 4 birds.

I would love to have a horse but don't have a place for one. Maybe someday. *S* I ride when I can. I rode a half Arabian half thoroughbred (sp?) once. That was the wildest, fastest horse ride of my life!

As for the tom-boy stuff...I deer hunt, fish, ride motorcycle, and ride 3 and 4 wheelers. Other interests/hobbies include youth and children's ministry, nursing home and prison ministry, drums and bass guitar, web and graphic design, anything dealing with computers and reading. Oh and my pets of course. ;)

Very cool, LadyRev! It's good to know there are other apostolics out there with so many cats! I've felt alone in that for a while. LOL

I have a feeling we could talk for a long time -- even if I'm not a tom-boy....but, then again....I'm not really a girly-girl either! LOl

I have so many pets I don't know what to do
My husband says we live in a zoo! LOL!

I picked up a frog outside the church door last Wed night and some of the girls standing nearby started screaming. It was just a frog for goodness sake! :D

I suspect we could talk a long time just about cats! LOL!

I have some kitty pics for you girls.:) I love cats too! Birds and dogs also. We had to find a home for our 3 babies because we had to move to a place that doesnt allow pets. We had 2 cats, a dog (Bishon/****zu) and 7 birds. lol We didn't have the birds and cats at the same time! That would have been interesting! Especially concidering Lady (the queen of the house) was an expert bird catcher. lol She used to bring them in and leave them as a present for Esther. Right in the middle of her bed!!

ROFL! Yes, I do believe we could talk forever about cats!

My best friend, who is more like my sister, has 17 cats. She does rescue work out of her home. I asked her if she sometimes felt like the old woman who lives in a shoe. I know with mine I sometimes do! LOL

Keep her in your prayers. She does not believe in the trinity, but has not obeyed the gospel yet either. For her, it's a matter of laziness and priorities b/c she says she sees what I have shared with her. She sometimes makes me want to take her by the arms, shake her and make her get baptized in His name, but that's not going to make it genuine, nor will it make her get the HG! It's just that I love her so much and want to see her walking free from the things I see that she is bound in.

Did you take your frog home? LOL

I must be raising girls that are like LadyRev,

I am not that fond of animals. I have an lasapoo?sp, but I tolerate the furry creature for my kids sake.

My kids on the other hand, love all animals. I take them horseback riding, but leave them in the hands of the people at the stables. They bring home every stray cat and dog. I manage to feed strays along with the girls and our dog maddie.

I was paged to the office at school last month because my daughter had brought a turtle to school. Then there were the frogs, and once they brought in a garden snake, and let it sleep in a box by their bed. I didn't find out about it until the next morning when they realized the snake wouldn't stay in a box, but had slithered out in the night. Never did find that snake in my house, I hope he is still living.

A couple of Sundays ago, they were playing in the rain after church, and had emptied out their cups from Taco Bell, and each had themselves a crawdad, yuk!! They were taking them home to be a pet. NOT! Elaine tried to kiss it, and it pinched her nose. I had to stop the van and make them get rid of them, I refused to take the crawdads home. (btw, I think crawdads, are what you people in the south cook)

Yesterday was the last day of school, I couldn't find my oldest, and around 5:30, I found her at the creek, a baby duck in her arms, and she was muddy. My kids climb and swing from trees, I would say that they are the very epitome of "Tom-boys"

They climb up on top of my house to have a good view of the neighborhood (at least this is the reason given) I own a two story, so this could actually be dangerous. I told them, if you fall off, I am not coming to the funeral! :D

LadyRev, how about I send you some girls to raise.. they might get along with you and all your pets! :)

OK, I'll get on topic now,
I love to read, be on the internet, and cook.
I don't cook as much anymore, but I am trying to get back into the swing of things for my kids. It was really hard for me to be in my kitchen, for a long while. My ex-husband and I created my kitchen together from nothing but a gutted room. It is large and has a cathedral rake ceiling in it. It still needs some finishing touches, but I will eventually get to it.
Which brings me to the fact that I love home improvement projects. I love home depot, and Lowe's. I just wish I had more money. I am a dreamer.

I love crafts, I love to create things. I like to decorate and make my suroundings beautiful. Although I am not the artist in my family, I have a creative flair.

I enjoy working in the garden. I love flowers and playing in the dirt.

One thing that I don't believe that I could live without though, is my music. I sing, and enjoy listening to music. It is an integral part of my praise and worship throughout the day.

OH how could I ever forget.... I LOVE TO SHOP, or maybe I should say I LOVE TO SPEND MONEY!!

Wow this has the potential to become my favorite thread.
I have a cat named FURRY MURRAY and another named
Calico(How original huh?) that has three kittens who are looking for homes. They are really beautiful but I have to give up the desire to keep them.My daughter Ashleigh gets up as early as possible to hold them.We also have a doberman pincher named Megan and a miniature Fox Terrier named Missy.I guess we're big on M names.I just realized that.I wonder how calico escaped the m list.Oh well.
I am an avid reader.I read about one or two books weekly.Countless magazines and the BIBLE.Thats the book for me.One of my close friends Mary tells me I am domesticated.Because girls while I love the great outdoors(thats the cajun in me) I love sewing and cooking etc.I am mostly interested in organic gardening and natural things.I love herb gardening. Its so neat to fix fresh things and use your own herbs.
God bless you all today.lv sis.c

Too bad....you could have kept those crawdads. Sis. Cooper and I could have sent you some crab boil and good crawfish recipes...not that two of them would have gone very far. LOL :)

Good thing it was only a crawfish that pinched her....crabs are worse. LOL

You're not the only one, Renee....I'll get out the soapbox and provide links. LOL

If it weren't for people not fixing their pets I wouldn't have ANY of mine. Although I do love them all, I most certainly did not desire to have this many cats!

Thank God for low-cost spay/neuter programs!

We have no trouble giving away the kitties. Its just my girls want to keep them all everytime the momma cat has some.No way
an I getting them spayed. We only have one female. The place we live is like country in town. The houses are all so close together and ratty.Except for a few.And that we have a new mobile home.
Anyway the cats keep down the mice population.
My doberman was ill for a few days.We prayed over her and last night she was her old spunky self.Amen to that.I think it was the heat.We haven't had rain in a month at least.lv sis.c

Sis Cooper, You want some of my rain? :) I don't mind sharing!! Besides, we have had more than our share this year:( The sun is kind of shinning right now but the clouds are hanging around. I would be happy to send them your way!
It's good you don't have a problem getting homes for your kittens. I know a lady that had over 50 cats at one point, because she took in all the stray kittens! (:p we moved into the house after her! There was literally 3 inches of cat hair everywhere! And she left it for me to clean:( And the house came complete with 2 of the best cats I ever had! lol):D
My sister works for the SPCA. She has a VERY big soap box! :realmad: Every time we see her, we hear about all the poor animals. Some of the stories would make your blood boil!! It is a good thing we can't have pets here! We would end up like the "Cat Lady"! LOL Only it wouldn't be just cats!
LOL Not a good topic for me in the morning! I won't tell you any of the stories or you will be crying before long!

Has anyone heard from Sis. Wynona lately? I hope she is alright, she hasn't been on for quite a while. (unless I missed her posts)

Anyway, Good morning everyone!

Well, I guess I rescue cats too. Cause every stray ends up at my house it seems. ;)

I have cats and birds. My cats don't bother them. When I have had a kitten or a new arrival, they are curious about the birds but they don't harm them. Course the birds don't fly loose either. LOL! One of my birds is an African Grey. A couple of curious cats found out that its NOT a good thing to nose around the bottom of his cage. He has nipped some paws in defense of his territory.

As for the frog, no, I didn't bring him home. I simply moved him out of harms way, saved him from cars and certain humans that wanted to squash him. :D

Sis. Cooper!

We have plenty of rain in TN! I will ship some to you! ;)

And get that cat fixed...you have lots of soapboxes about to be occupied!

oh, btw, I have a new kitten. Someone dumped him at the church. He needs a home. Hes pretty young but is eating on his own. Hes obviously used to people, he purrs and rubs and kneads like crazy. My husband got him out of tree. He was full of pickers. I don't NEED another cat! Anybody want him? I'll send pictures! LOL!

You can have all the rain you want! We get 5 min. "sunbursts" around here. lol Would you mind sharin some of your heat? Actually it was sunny today:cool: but cold until around noon. The wind can still be chilly this time of year. It is nice in the summer. It often rains at night and is sunny during the day and most days (all year!) have a breeze or wind. Pretty scary wind storms sometimes though! LOL Nobody knows what to expect this year! It has been a really strange year for weather. I hope you get some rain soon.
Won't it be nice when we get to Heaven? The weather will be perfect!:)

Thanks to all who shared their rain.It finally rained last night and I had to unplug my computer and phone.Thank God.The ground is so thirsty that it still looks dry but at least the foliage got a drink.
The greenry was getting a might dry looking.I love Tennessee
sister and about every two years I go the the Smokies for vacation.Last year I went hiking five miles a day.Such lovely views and neat trails. The waterfalls were awesome but situated so far from the road...lol....you should have seen me huf and puf up Clingmans dome.My friend and I would walk a bit and crack up laughing over each others physical condition. It was so funny.Boy the air is thin up on that peak. But well worth the walk.
Sis.Marie, I don't think I could hack the cold that long. But I guess you get used to it.My daughter in law from Maryland loves the South.lv sis.c

I understand you wanting to keep cats around for the sake of the mice, but eventually it may catch up with you -- especially if all those girl kittens have litters and their girls have litters and so on. I just hope those folks you are giving the kittens to fix theirs. Trust me when I say you don't want a feral cat problem in Kaplan. Within the cat population 1+1=420,000. How? 1 male cat + 1 female cat and their offspring can produce 420,000 kittens in 7 years.

In addition to that, it is actually healthier for a cat if they get spayed. If a cat is spayed before their first litter/heat it cuts down their chances of certain illnesses.

I had a cat, a bird and a hamster at one point in time. The cat never tried to do anything with the bird or the hamster. She seemed to want to befriend them both, but you can't always tell with a cat. LOL I know she never tried to attack them -- even when I had their "houses" sitting on my living room table. She would just watch. That girl wasn't much of a hunter -- never took care of the roaches. LOL Nowadays a roach doesn't stand a chance in my house as I have several prolific hunters.

Marie,

I'm in West TN, not far from Memphis. What part of Canada are you in? I might could bring the kitten part way, just depends. :D I'm a Wisconsin native so I head that way 2-3 times a year. Part of Canada is not far away from WI.

I sure hope I can find a home for this baby. Hes a sweety. I estimate hes about 10weeks old. He romps and plays and was obviously capable of climbing the tree we found him in. He seems healthy, eats like hes full grown, and he is definitely full of LIFE! My cats do NOT like him and my one dog thinks hes a chew toy! LOL! The kitten zips across the room and the dog goes after him. Whoever takes him will have to like a talker cause he definitely is not a quiet kitty. Yet another reason my cats don't like him. LOL!

BTW Sister Cooper, I wish I could get used to the rain and cold! I'm an Alberta girl. We have been back nearly 5 years and I just can't get used to it. LOL In Alberta you can get -30 to -40 degree weather for weeks on end, here it doesn't get so cold, but I feel colder here than I did in Alberta! It's because the air is so wet, it gets right into your bones and you can't get warm! Brrrr! It rains from September or October to May or June. LOL I could easily move to a place that doesn't get any colder than it was here today! :o "SIGH" Guess I should quit complaining. I might end up in a desert somewhere!

Well, I will tell ya what, I am about ready to pack up my house and move SOUTH!! This Indiana weather is the pits! I don't think it even hit 60 today, and it has drizzled pretty much for three days now.
I feel like I am on spring break, not summer. It has been at least 10 days of below normal temps. It's cold, I am freezin'.

And summer is still a couple of weeks away. It is supposed to be warm for a few days anyway.:) I got spoiled growing up in Alberta where the sun shines most of the time and when it's cloudy, it is still bright!

Can we just trade? I wish it were that cool here and I don't mind the rain. I could go there and you could come live here in the sauna of 80 degree + temperatures with high humidity.:D

LOL You don't want to live here! Heating is very expensive! It is June and just turned the heat off last night! But, I would gladly trade you places. If you want snow, try Alberta or Nothern BC, they get real snow there. You can play in it for hours and not get wet!:D It's great fun! Both of us had a hard time this winter with all the rain, we both love snow. This stuff we get here is not snow, but slush. Yuk!

What a beautiful day today! I woke up before 7 and it was already starting to get warm.:) It hasn't been warming up til around noon, up to this time. It's great! Praise God for the sunshine!

The picture is Lady and Roger (the unmentionable dog;) ) Lady was Momma's baby, if I was sitting, she was in my lap. If I was reading, she would push the book away or plop right down in the middle of the newspaper! LOL When we first brought Roger home, she looked at him, looked at me, then turned her head away and would not look at me for days! LOLOLOL That is until she found out he was great fun to play with.

Marie, Roger looks just like our dog Maddie, Ours is an lasapoo*sp? something like that. Just a little fur ball he is. My sister got him for my girls for Christmas. I have to admit, he is adorable, many people stop us and comment on how cute he is.

Apostolic Kitty, I will trade places with you anytime. I will take the South anytime over the North. Marie is right! Wait till you pay astronomical heating bills, mine averaged $400 a month this year. Without the help of various agencies, I wouldn't have been able to do it. We had more snow and cold than we have had in a long time.

Foreverblessed....Sweetie.....don't be so sure you'd want to live in a sauna.

I think I read you have a big 2 story, right?

Well, if you lived here you'd have to run the a/c AT LEAST 10 months of the year (some years you get no such break) and you would still end up with an astronomical bill for that size of a house. We live in a 2 bedroom double and the bill for April was $150-$160...and this April was cooler than some.

Hubby is a native Delawarian -- loves the cold. He's one of those sickos who would walk barefoot in snow. The man likes the a/c on 68. I don't want to hang meat in my house, so I don't go there. He settles for 70 - 72, so there it usually stays if neither of us touch the thermostat. If I had it my way all the time (if he'd stop touching that thermostat) I'd probably leave it on 74 or 75. However, the suggested temperature for lowering the a/c bill is 78. Ain't no way we're doing 78 in my house!

It's 88 degrees today! :(

I don't turn on the air here, unless it reaches high eighties and humid. I am used to living without air, I don't like it unless I just can't breath. I will take a fan and open windows, anyday over central air. I have ceiling fans in every room.

You have to look at it this way, I can't do without the Heat in the winter here, but could live in a suana year round. I won't die from being hot and sweaty! :)

Getting back to hobbies.I love to make bath soaks and herbal
remedies.I especially like the following. It not only makes a great gift but will knock you out after soaking in it.

2 cups epson salts
1/2 cup sea salt
1/4 cup light olive or almond oil
10 drops lavender or eucalyptus oil.
Put in small ziplock baggie and knead until
all ingredients are mixed.
This and a few other items like a loofah, and
bath sponge. And maybe a pumice stone and
some bars of really good soap.Like from
Bed Bath and Beyond.I love the french milled Milk Soap or the
Lemon Verbena. They also have one that is olive oil and lavender.
Put this in a gift bag or basket and attatch a nice card.
Put instructions on it to fix water as hot as can be tolerated and soak for one hour.
You will litterally have to crawl to bed.It relaxes you that much.lv sis.c

Cold with sleeting rain is 30's- 40 with sleet. Now I do consider that pretty miserable.

I love the heat, the warmer the better, maybe it is Florida's weather I like. Maybe we should just switch places. I don't care for bugs too much though, I would have to hire Orkin man to come by every month! :) Me and bugs don't get along.

Greetings from the very cold land of Australia. I think you need to pack your bags and come for the November to April Spring, Summer and a little bit of Autumn (Fall) The weather right this very minute outside would make you feel really cold..Brrrrrrr!!! I would not like to be outside now with 50 mph wind gust that seem to be happening every minute at the moment. There is snow on the mountains some 140 miles away and we are feeling it here. Yes Summer and late spring get hot, like 35-40 C degree heat and it is very dry heat here in Canberra. The sun seems very hot and intense.
I like it here though. Not as cold as some places in Canadaa or United States. We don't get snow much to stay on the ground here. Most places that is rare over here anyway, except in the mountains or hills.
We have had white Decembers where it has hailed really hard and then soon after melts because of the heat in the ground.
Talking of hobbies, which I haven't yet. I enjoy music too. It does something in our house that I can't do. It is a start of my prayer time and the finish. I love it loud and I love it soft. I love it in the car and especially with others of like faith. The other I took two ladies to a little crafty town where we met up with ladies from the other Apostolic churchs around the area and had lunch, afternoon tea and great fellowship with each other. In between that we took a stroll (walk) around all the lovely shops. On the way we had the music on quite high so the deaf lady could at least hear the music. It was great. I know the presence of the Lord was there in a big way and the lady who is deaf, felt something she had never felt before and I explained that that was Jesus touching her heart with music. What a blessing. She will never forget that!!! Nor will I!! To God be the Glory!!
Praise, worship, intrumental Jesus music. I even like country gospel. If it is praising the Name of my Lord and Saviour then I enjoy singin along to it and praising my Lord. It keeps me warm!!
:p  ;) ;)

AK, I wouldn't wear a coat in 50 degree weather. Below 50 is cold huh?. I would be very happy to live here, if it stayed in the 40's for winter. Actually 30's if the sun was shining would be nice. I just hate the bitter cold of the 0's - and 20's, add some wind to make a wind chill well below 0, and I am miserable. I just stay bundled up inside, which I did most of this winter. We had several feet of snow this past winter. Boy am I glad God finally delivered us from winter, I was so glad to see spring come.

I have never experienced the bitter cold of 0's and 20's although there have been times that, between the humidity and the wind chill factor, it has felt like the teens outside.

People around here begin wearing jackets in the 60's -- coats too if it's low 60's. I don't. I think the best temperatures are found between 60 & 70 degrees.

Forever,
Actually, we do have a young man looking for a wife. But I think hes a few years younger than you. I will have to ask. He'd be a great catch too! Loves God with all his heart, has a good job, makes decent money, very polite, quiet shy type, sweet spirit, fun to be around, works in Sunday School with the kids and is excellent with them, never been married, comes from simple sweet TN country folks, grew up poor but he never complains. I wouldn't call him handsome but I wouldn't call him ugly either. His sweet personality makes up for the missing outstanding looks.

I have been cooresponding thru IM with a young man from KY, he is Youth Pastor, college educated, wonderful guy, but he is only 27, I just told him the other night, that he needed to be lookin for a women that has never been married and doesn't have children. His response was "are you looking for a husband or not?" I had to chuckle on that one... I just replied yes, but didn't think I was looking for one so young! LOL :)

It would really take a special man to marry someone and take on another man's three children and raise them, especially when he hasn't been married or have any children from a previous marriage.

I am a women that enjoys being married and taking care of a home and husband. I think God sees the desire of my heart, in his time, it will happen.;)

Isn't it great! What a blessing! Isn't God good to give up such a precious family! I never want to lose this feeling of "family" that I have felt since coming to the Cafe! Not only do I feel closer to my Sisters here, but when I went to Nanaimo this week, it was like "coming home". I stayed with 2 precious Sisters from the church there. They have always been special, but somehow, they became more special than ever! And so it was with my "Sister sister":) , as we call each other. And, OH how much I learned from them! God knows just exactly what we need and when we need it!! Sister Jakie, Esther and I spent Monday discussing the precious things that the Lord has taught us over the years. We laughed and cried, broke bread, praised the Lord and prayed together! Sister Jackie told us about what the Lord had showed her a few years ago about forgiveness and HOW to "forgive and forget". OH my! But I needed that! For many years I have heard that we must not just forgive, but also forget. But no-one ever told us HOW to "forget". Our brains are like a giant storage place that retains EVERYTHING that enters in there! And unlike computers, WE DO NOT have a delete button! Anyway, the next day (yesterday) I went for my Specialist appointment. This Doctor is one of those that will ask you a question and then sit there an smirk while you are trying to answer! :o Have you ever tried to explain something to a person like that? It makes you feel very small! And when I feel uncomfortable, I have a very hard time to talk. The things he said to me after I had answered his insulting questions made me forget how small I felt and more like I wanted to SLAP him and leave!:flame: :realmad: LOL
After the appointment we(my sister and I) had to go to Sister Jackie's and trade vehicles. She asked me about my appointment. (Hmm.. I didn't want to tell her, but I knew that she could tell how I was feeling. Sisters!:D) So, we talked for a few minutes and she prayed with me and then we left. On the way out of town, she called me on my sister's cell and said, "Remember what we discussed yesterday" And immediately I knew without a doubt what she meant (we had talked about a lot of things!) and that it had been for me! She said "I had wondered, why, after so long a time, it came up now. Maybe it was for you at this time." and she went on to encourage me to give it to the LORD and ask Him not to let it enter my heart. And immediately I felt free of the hurt and anger! What a precious Father we have! He knew that we wouldn't have the time to discuss this after my appointment! He knew what I would need! When Sister Jackie called, I felt as if it was Jesus talking to me!!!
What more could we ask for than a Father who knows what we need before we even need it! Oh! and soooo much more! He gave us such a precious gift as Sisters! What better gift could He give us!(except Calvary of course!)
My neighbor asked me the other day why we call each other "Sister". It really go me thinking. :) And crying! I thought I would like to start a thread entitled "Why do I call you "Sister"?" Sisters are one of the most precious gifts He could have given us!

Don't worry, you won't be alone! Once you get on the other side, it won't seem so bad!
I was visiting my Dad recently. He lives in a Senior's housing. We had just enjoyed a potluck at the hall and he was walking me home. Then he pipes up and says "You know, in just a few years, you may find yourself living here with a bunch of other old people!"   Now, I don't mind being 44, in fact, I'm kind of enjoying it! But, this was coming from my DAD! You have to know my Dad to know why I was so shocked. LOL They call him "the old hippy" He refused to get old. And he refused to move from the old stinky hotel where he lived to a nice, clean, affordable apartment because there were OLD people living there! He didn't want to sit around and play bridge and discuss the things that OLD people discuss. LOL He was 71 at the time, I think. Guess what he does now? And he enjoys it! LOLOLOL He doesn't play bridge as far as I know, but when I call, he is either at his computer playing crib or some internet game or at the hall playing crib or bingo! LOL He says that getting out of the hotel was the best thing he ever did. :D Can't say I don't agree! He was drinking himself to death! He looks so good now! And he is as happy as he can be without Jesus in his life. (It won't be long though!)

Marie, That is wonderful about your Dad. Keep trusting God for his salvation.
My Mom is 72, and she makes comments all the time about not wanting to be old. She has alzheimers, and I just had to tell her the other day "hate to be the one to bring you bad news Mom, but you are old!" :) She just laughed and laughed, she thought that was too funny. She's a hoot, most older people are.

Marie,

My dad is good as gold, no vices whatsoever, but hes devout Catholic. Always has been and insists he always will be. My mom on the other hand is confused. ;) She was raised Lutheran, turned Catholic when she married my dad, years later went back to Lutheran, didn't like it, went Baptist for awhile, but didn't stay, went Assembly of God for a good while, finally left it too. She currently doesn't go to any church. And my dad keeps harpin on her to come back to the Catholic church.

Out of this chaos there is ME! LOLROTF! My mom started her state of confusion when I was in high school, shortly after I came into the church. And it continues still. Both my parents have been to church with me and have heard me preach several times. My mom enjoys the singing and such but sees no need in her life. She considers herself saved. And my dad, well, Catholic is enough explanation. ~L~ He says I have a "good speaking voice". But he thinks we are crazy and that we are a cult. But he did laugh when the pastor of my home church literally walked from the front of the church to the back on top of the pews while preaching once. Even dear ole dad had to crack a smile on that one. Otherwise, he usually sits and does nothing. He has only come with me because I am his only kid I guess.

I just keep praying for them. *sigh*

Marie
06-12-2003, 06:23 PM
That is sad.:( We will have to keep praying for them.:) God will bring them around. It seems like a long time though when your waiting! Well, one good thing in your Dad's strong stand, when he does turn, he will probably stand just as strong or stronger in the truth!

A real Sneaux ball stand in Austin, TX!

http://www.austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2002-07-05/food_feature.html

From http://www.gatewayno.com/culture/NOfood.html :

SNOWBALLS: Finely shaved ice with the texture of velvet infused with a strongly flavored sweet syrup served in a paper cup with a straw and a spoon. Any self-respecting snowball stand will carry upwards of 50 flavors of syrup, but certain time-honored favorites will always be on the list. They include nectar (New Orleans talk for vanilla), wedding cake (almond) and ice cream (unidentifiable but wonderful). This is a summertime treat designed to beat the afternoon heat. Like wearing white, eating snowballs is most easily gotten away with from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It can be noted that outside the South Louisiana area these are referred to as "Snow Cones". And along with that thought it may also be noted that outside the South Louisiana area, the staple diet is Meat and Potatoes !!

Sister Cooper, I replied to your last post, but it seems to have been misplaced! Wonder if I will find it somewhere else?
Natropathic physicians are not covered under our medical and they are very expensive:( or I would definatly go. I keep trying to check out that site, but either the phone rings or someone is at the door or I check out a new post and get lost! lol:)
I do use a colon cleanser, but with the IBS trouble (I am opposite to most) it takes 2 or 3 days to start working sometimes and when it does, I am useless for a couple of days. The anti spasmotic (sp)drugs don't help so I have to depend on Senna teas. I don't like to stay on them for too long. It takes about 2 weeks before I begin to feel better. I have one spot in my colon that spasms and won't release for days sometimes. It can be very painful. I would love to get in to see a Natropathic doctor. Maybe they could do something to help. I have had this condition for about 40 years or so. Many of my immediate and extended family have the same condition. :( Esther has it too. And Marc (my son), but he is not so bad. It breaks my heart to see Esther in such pain, but I don't know how to help her anymore than I do myself.:(

Sister Marie,
Go and check out that site. Most people think Naturopathic Doctors are just herbalists and are not covered by insurance. But in the case of the md I referred you to that is not the case.In fact I am thinking it is even four years more to become a naturopathic md.lv sis.c

Marie

 computer trouble. Again.:realmad:

Forever, that spell checker is great! I love it. But..alas..'sigh' my computer does not. It worked at first, but now every time I use it, it locks everything up. oh well! Just have to do something about the old "spell checker", that is not working so good these days! Maybe a bit more sleep might help!:D :bore: Toxicity..no.. thats not it.. toxi... Hmm...didn't help much. LOL

Anyway, Sister Cooper, I just completed reading that entire site. Thank you for the link. I have emailed the clinic and am hoping for a reply. I still think most or all of our health problems are related to toxins. I guess some must be inherited(sp)...'sigh' I used to be good at spelling. A great majority of our family suffer from the same problems we do, such as IBS, migraine, fibermylgia, allergies, etc. Am I correct in thinking these things are all related to toxins? I will let you know if I hear anything. I pray there is a clinic on the Island as it costs about $40 to get to the ferry and at least $100 to get off the Island and back! Not to mention travel and accomotation on the other side. And that is if you  fast for the duration! LOL

Since y'all are talking about pets, I'll tell you about mine. I have a precious little white cat. She is so cute and fuzzy wuzzy...that's why we named her Fuzzy. She actually chose that name. She would never respond to her original name, Hope. She was given that name for a reason.

Fuzzy rode to church in the pastor's wife's van motor. She got her little face cut up pretty bad. She was so tiny, and nearly starved to death. She didn't belong to the pastor's wife, and nobody knew where she came from. We just couldn't leave her there. We fell in love with her right away, and named her Hope...because we hoped, and she did too, that she would live.

We took her to the vet. He gave her some medicine and said she would never see 100%, but her face would heal up on it's own.

She can see some, but probably only about 50% of what is normal. She can see well enough to chase us around and play with her toys and find her food, so that's all that really matters, I guess.

She is so big now! We've had her for about 6 months. She is fat and sassy, and the queen of the house. She doesn't know she has a handicap. She is never still! I wish I had before and after pictures to show you. She does not even look like the same cat. She is our baby, and she is spoiled BIG time.

And since this is the hobbies thread..LOL... I love cooking, sewing, crafts, photography, singing, traveling...lots more! I am wanting to make us an ottoman with fuzzy leopard upholstery. I just haven't gotten around to it yet. Plus, I don't own any woodworking tools. I think I could get away with just using a staple gun, a glue gun, and some upholstery tacks. Maybe I'll tackle it one day.

Hi there everyone,

Just wanted you to know about little ole me:angel: I to love dogs, cats are not my thing. Probably b/c they don't mind me*LOL I like it when you tell a pet something and they do it:) Oh, well don't hold that against me. Our dog is a dalmation. She's not really ours but, our oldest daughters. We inherited her before our daughter had our grandson. I'm sure it was my son-in-laws idea. He never liked her anyways. We work and it's hard to give time to her for we're so tired now that we're not as young as we use to be:yeah:

When I do have time off I love to travel. Not far away but, at least 8-12hrs or closer. A little get away weekend. Which we all need everynow and then. I like to go see lighthouses and covered bridges that are out there somewhere. I also love the fall and go to the mountians and watch the changing of the leaves. I love to decorate for the holidays, and for our church functions. I love to have FUN with friends and family. So,I have dinner parties with themes. I love looking at a full moon too. Something about it. I love candles also. I would love to learn how to make them. They are soooo relaxing to smell. But, who has time.:spin: Enough of me, lets hear from someone else. I could go on and on.

Here's a little about my pets.
Most of my 6 cats have been rescued kittens. I am such a sucker. I work for a veterinarian and sometimes people dump them at our door or someone will come in with an orphan and I end up bottlefeeding and of course, keeping them. I have Murphy, whom I got at 1 week of age; Jiggy Fred, 1 of a litter of 5 that I fed; Skeeter(he's little and annoying), whom some workmen found in a workshack; Sammy, also 1 of a litter of 5; Chip, whom I've had forever; and Kenzey, that my daughter found on the way to school.
I also have 3 dogs. Camilyn is a Border Collie/Lab cross and supersmart. Reload is a Black Labrador that recently replaced my old Lab that I had to put to sleep(hence, Reload). And another one of my famous rescues, a Chocolate Lab that I got at 5 weeks old that had his leg stuck in a fence somehow and tore his tendons and he was walking on the topside of his foot(tucked under). The owners didn't want him because he would be 'no good'. Well, I am happy to say that at 6 months old , you can hardly tell that anything was ever wrong with him except for a bad scar. He runs and jumps just as well as the others
.:p And he is a wonderful pup to boot.
