When I hear such complaining around about what we do or don't have to wear.Or arguments over what color the church carpet should be or how they didn't think the pastors wife should have worn this or that.Or God forbid how his kids are monsters. It makes me wonder if people actually read anything for themselves.
We have it so good in the year 2003.
We are able to meet for public worship openly.
Nobodys out trying to kill us for being christians etc.
I read a few portions of Foxes Book of Martyrs last night and was reminded of how blessed we are.
Think of the apostles.Peter was crucified.John boiled in oil and when he did not die banished until the next person came into power freed him.Paul had his head lopped off with a sword.
Mark was dragged to pieces by idolators. There are several accounts of deaths incurred from preaching the gospel recorded. As a matter of fact the only apostle that did not die a violent death was John but boiling in oil was no treat.Imagine how painful.
So should we complain. And should we go around saying things like....why doesn't the church possess the apostolic power like the early church? We should be very thanksful and kiss that book we call the BIBLE.A great price was paid for our freedom to read it and freedom to partake of the Holy Ghost.Aren't you tired of religon? I am.I am also tired of people acting like idiots instead of going out and sharing the gospel.Oh well. Its my turn for a soapbox today. If you need to feel a little more thankful go to this site and read Foxes Book of Maryters for free.Maybe you will thank your pastor next time you see him for holding up the truth.
