hello brothers,
ive been in the church for a while, but and have just recently 'awoken' to the spirit and God's grace. however im shamed to say that i do not know the 'guidlines' for how an apostolic man should dress, accessorise etc. should i i shouldnt i wear jewelery? should i take off my bracelet? how about my watch? i heard white sneakers are bad. is that true?
i think the guidlines for adornment are made more known for the women but the men's doesnt seem to be made known as much.
hoping for alot of responses :)
God bless

Awesome Brother-
The thing to do is #1 MOST IMPORTANT- pray to Jesus and ask Him to reveal these things to you. He will, He has a way of letting us know when we pray! #2, ask your pastor. That is part of his job, to help define those tricky boundaries, to help keep us all on the path to Heaven. Abide by his recommendations.
On this forum here, though, and any forum, you'll get a million opinions. All of them will be different, and it might be detrimental to your faith! So follow the advice above, and you can't go wrong.
God bless you Brother!

Shocking as it may seem, I'll agree with Annie on this one.
Pray about it, and get your word from God.
Consult your Pastor, for his guidance and leadership. Respect his position.
Never take another persons opinion for more than opinion.
What ever you decide, must be your decision and your walk with God. There is a place for obience to leadership.
But trying to conform to every Tom, Dick and Harry's conviction and ideas will drive even the best person completely nuts.

Sorry, I didn't notice it was in the "men's" section (I just clicked "new posts"), and the "hello brothers" didn't even clue me in!! Sorry!

Well you have to go to the Lord for yourself brother. Because if you listen to people everyone will have a different answer. I was just talking to someone about standards yesterday. It seems to me some peoples convictions run deeper than others. It does'nt mean that the other people don't get convicted but it just means some of us are more sensitive. So just pray to God for yourself and let him direct your path.

It takes a two-fold effort. Consistant study of God's Word and prayer that the Holy Spirit will help you understand and apply it. Listen to wise men of God, hopefully your pastor is one, and follow them as they follow Christ. Don't make any hasty decisions until you really understand the subject and ALL that Scripture has to say about it.

thanks alot brothers!
i understand prayer is sooo essential. ive been trying to get in practice of seeking God for answers to every decision or question i find difficult especially when it concerns the spirit, and youre right HE DOES ANSWER. PRAISE GOD!.
i ask for answers and can feel the spirit in me trying to lead me. i think its going to be part of my growth to learn how to effectivly listen to what it has to say. i think somtimes God is giving me the answers but its like...i cant fully understand it. i think maybe theres some fleshy/carnal natures in me still that i have to bring under subjection of my spirit to clear any possible interferences.
its going to be part of my growth and maturity i guess. so i shall continue my quest to do so
THANKS AGAIN

Thats the correct path to take sparx, of course always being in submission to your pastor, as long as he is in the word. Allow the Holy Ghost to lead and guide you, he will answer you as you have found out. God bless.

Its nice to understand that people are capable of letting God speak to them about male adornment. It was such a big problem and weakness in my life before I came into holiness and I still dont always wear the right clothes ,but at least my hair isnt down to my backside anymore and i've cut off my dreadlocks...I was one of those "christian" metal heads until i veered off into total sin and the electronic music scene...When the Lord finally called me to total surrender it was and still is one thing at a time, for example my hair is real short and i dont watch any television whatsoever but I still dont own a suit, but that doesnt mean i dont intend to get one ..I will and its on the agenda but all in Gods time..Whats hindering me ? nothing I guess, i used to ascribe to the mentality that criminals wear suits and just because I wear white sneakers and hooded surf tops doesnt stop me from walking in holiness.Kinda small minded of me and well.. truthfully I might as well end this session and put a suit on a raincheck asap.....all in Gods time..ksv

:icon_danc I know most preachers say men should not wear jewerly. I WOULD TAKE OFF MY BRACELET. I Believe when a man and a woman marry they should wear their rings as that is a symbol of their love. Men need to be modest also. What is the deal with white tennis shoes. No where is there scrpiture for that in the bible. We should come out from among the world. I sugguest u pray about it and God will lead u in the truth. Once u have the Holy Ghost u will understand. And there is no scrpiture on a watch either. I'm a woman and I wear a watch. God Bless u
