Despise Not the Day of Small Things

-----------------------------------------------------
1 Cor. 3:6; I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

Psalm 126:5-6; They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

We tend to make more of finished products than we do the process that brings about the finished product. The seed is a type of hope, renewal, a source of development.

The seed contains the finished product in miniature just as a sparks contain the possibilities of a bonfire.

Matthew 13:31-32; Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field: Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.

A lump of carbon is coal, under great pressure and heat, makes a diamond in the rough -- the process of time can prove transforming--if you can take the pressure.

Do we understand the process of the "seed?" Those that cannot "grow" are destined to unfruitfulness. Growth as God intended has its divine purpose. One plants -- another waters -- but God giveth the increase!

Far too many want to be a stalk before they are a blade.......... Despise not the day of small things!

Many people fail to see the need of growing into maturity.

One of the most critical situations in Christianity today is its lack of spiritual maturity. The vast majority of believers are babes who demand constant personal attention, are only looking for blessings or are obsessed with entertainment. Leaders are satisfied to minister little more than a light elementary gospel to keep the crowds happy, the plates full, and the programs running.

God's overarching goal is to produce men and women who demonstrate the character qualities of Jesus Christ. God is not after a church filled with white-robed professing saints. He does not want a church filled with pseudo theological authorities or cultured clergymen. He wants a church filled with ordinary men and women, who have been truly born again, who exemplify the extraordinary integrity, temperament, wholeness, compassion, individuality, boldness, righteousness, earnestness, love, forgiveness, selflessness, and faithfulness of Jesus Christ. And THAT takes time!

Are you willing to WAIT on the Lord?

Small is not always a little thing:

- A small shepherd boy defeated a giant
- 12 insignificant disciples changed the world
- God reduced Gideon's army from 32000 to 300
- A small lad's loaves & fishes fed 5000 plus
- Before Elijah saw the coming storm, he saw a little cloud the size of a man's hand
- In the cave Elijah found God not in the wind, not in the fire, not in the storm - but in a still small voice
- God used a shepherd's sling, a shepherd's rod, a prophet's mantle, a woman's cruse of oil - 1 dip from being dry & gone a meal barrel 1 scoop from empty & depleted

What servant choses his own task? His own place of labor? His own time of service? Does not the faithful servant ask, "Lord, what would you have me to do?" Everybody wants to take the floor, few care to sweep it. The returning prodigal did not labor as a hired servant but he was willing!

AH, how we miss seeing the value of the small days -- we send the Davids out to tend sheep; we dismiss the loaves and fishes as too little to be useful and unworthy of our notice. When will we learn that is the foolish things that God uses to confound the wise? It is the base things, the things which are despised, yea, and the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are; that no flesh should glory in His presence.

SO many have been taken in by the world's philosophy of numbers, riches, greatness, talent, popularity, and wisdom and discarded the very instruments, vessels and weapons God uses to accomplish His glory!
