I just wonder since some of you are from various cultural backgrounds. How do the men in your culture view women?
Here in Acadian Country the women are very able. They still cook and sew etc.The men(carnal) are mostly in adultry. Its the mindset. When a man really gets saved he is faithful but will always have to war the spirit here. The women are treated almost as a commodity.lv sis.c

Has a born Jamaican, I have notice that woman are treated similarly like how Acadian woman are treated. They are treated just like how you have described the Acadian woman.

Here in Canada because we are multi-culture, woman are treated in various. Overall, it seem to me that the woman and man both work and the woman also take care of the home.

Here in Australia, Women are treated fairly, though alot, and I say alot, go out to work full time but are still expected to look after the home too. Back before I became a Christian, in amongst the people I knew, the marriage was still special. I didn't know many couples who committed adultery, though I was pretty blind to those sort of things. Divorce with my friends of old is rampant. I only know about 5-6 who are still together. If I dug around a bit I could probabley and hopefully would find more. Divorce is the sad trend now. No hard work or commitment to stay together. Though I don't know the details, so it is just an observation of my own.

I wonder if we can define or make the distinction between overall locational 'culture' or is this just another more PC way of saying 'race'?

Well Sis.Tufluv,
I meant culture.Because acadians are many times of more than one race. Then there are subcultures within the culture. But I was referring to culture.I am sure Jamacians and Australians are more than one race.Culture has to do with commonalities of a given group of people within a particular locale.lv sis.c

I thought I would put an update here.Since there is a governors race going on in my state between a Woman and a man with roots from India.
The man honestly is well qualified but guess what????He isn't cajun so the word around here is they would rather vote for the woman because she is.But then it is said that they needed more choices because if you know cajun men folks they would prefer not to let a woman in politics especially Governor......go figure.lv sis.c

What a mess!
This wouldn't happen if the woman would just attend to her GOd-given roles!
Ooo-oooh, I may have stepped on some toes there..(I can imagine whom), AND my statement reflects my new view since becoming born again.
I once considered or dreamed of becoming a Senator! Hah!
A wise woman set me straight on politics, period! And some I saw for myself, just working as a paralegal.

I am Puerto Rican by birth.
Women are seen as lesser than men. But Puerto Ricans like their women feisty. The feistier they are - but yet also submitted to their man (or husband) - the more that is viewed as showing how much of a man (how "macho") that husband or man in her life must be (since he can "tame" such a woman, and have her submissive to him).
And if Searching says a word, I'm going to have to slap her. *L* (inside joke)

Well Brother Cord,
I have heard it all.Tame her? I guess here its whether or not you can fool her into believing your lies.Thats the french culture anyway. It likes to make the man think he can pull the wool so to speak over his wife and have multiple affairs. Then we preach to them against the sin of lying and they either come clean and get delivered or they run back home never to be seen again....lv sis.c

That's the French/Cajun culture, eh?
Well, Puerto Ricans don't care about lying about their affairs: the woman is just supposed to accept the fact of affairs in most Latin cultures that I can think of (except French, that is). If a man has "Chilla" (pronounced "Chee-ya") - a girlfriend "on the side"; mistress - that just adds to his "machismo". Or so they think, anyway.
It should be noted, however, that even Hispanic women are beginning to assert themselves, culturally speaking.

I don't think that's just a Puerto Rican/Latin/Central American thing. A lot of men like a feisty woman and the fact that she still submits and yields to their desire and lead.

I dated a guy from Guatemala (sp?) when I was younger. I finally had to tell him, "Look, buddy, you came to America and I'm an American woman. Deal with it or go back!" Then I find out he's illegal and has a wife and 4 kids back home!!! I've said ever since that I would only date a Latino guy if he was raised here. Not being racist, just real life!
I'm from Texas and here it's still alot of "pat the little woman on the head". I've told a few around here that females really do have brains!

I was married to a white guy, who had several affairs on me. He lied about them, but I knew about them because he wasn't smart enought to hind the evidence. Such as, phone numbers, their clothes in his truck, hair pieces, etc..
Face it, unless their are really, truely, and unbelievably in love with Jesus, it doen't matter what race they are from.
I guess I thought that men from other countries would treat their women better. I am kind of nieve though.

I think that he thought he was french. He used to say that if he was going to go to hell, he was going to go doing what he wanted. :lame:
God gave him exactly who he wanted. :yeah: Let me tell you, she's a gem.
May God have mercy. I mean that literally.
